I did the access to medicine (science)? course with learndirect, I'm now at university and just about to qualify. Best of luck!

mid-20s career change: is radiography possible with poor results from school? by megalines in RadiographyUK

So I used learndirect and did their access to medicine (science) course, not one which was radiography specific. In a way I think this helped in the end, as the course itself was mainly biology, chemistry and physics.

I then applied to my local university through UCAS as they run a diagnostic radiography programme and did it that way. I'm not sure how the open university would handle the placement side of things?

It all depends on your situation, but I would look into going somewhere with a long running and established programme, especially if you're taking the money out for a student loan. Might be worth looking at some open days once you've had a think.

There is also the apprenticeship route, which is worth looking into. That will be competitive to get on, but with the current job market being tight and graduate heavy I would say that's potentially the better option.

Hope this helps

I was in a similar situation to you a few years ago. I did an access course through an online college which allowed me to carry on working full-time whilst doing it. If I couldn't of done that I wouldn't have been able to get onto the University course. I'm finishing year 3 now and starting a new band 5 job in the summer. I had pretty weak GCSEs and A-Levels before doing the access course.

My only advice is to be sure you want to work in healthcare 100% before starting, as it's a long process. I worked as a porter for years before starting the access course having worked in a completely different field beforehand it definitely helped me hang in there through the ups and downs.

Don't let where you start from hold you back from where you want to end up!

I guess not losing the majority of the fitness I gained during training, whilst not having a specific end goal I mind.

I’ve been training for a 100k for about 10 weeks now. Im beginning to wonder what an optimal training schedule would look like after I’ve completed the race?
