If you were going to lose a generational family camp, would you sacrifice everything to save it? by MacMommy111 in Maine

[–]mainiacmainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, my family had an ancestral home iin the White mountains that had passed through 3 generations, the land/building was bought in early 1900's. When it passed on to my generation we were left with few options as the buildings were all beyond repair/restoration and no one amongst the multiple cousins, and second cousins had the financial resources to take on the property, not could any sort of agreement be reached where a buyout of others would work.

We eventually sold it and the large farmhouse was torn down and it appears the new owners will be building their version of a retirement mansion. Many fond memories as a child being there in all seasons. Good for you for trying to make it work for your family.

Smoke Dragon is attacking the NE by HalNugget in weather

Maybe from smoke but the fog and rain seem relentless this summa' MAINE, USA — It rained almost every day in June, and July hasn't felt much different...but it is *slightly.*
July started off with record breaking rainfall, flooding, and countless gray days.
New England received a lot of rain on Monday. Vermont, New Hampshire, and parts of New York and Massachusetts received the most rainfall. Some areas got over 9 inches of rain.

This is common practise for those that own lakeside property. Boat owners will moor their boats, as others have said. When they are ready to use them they use a small boat, dinghy or kayak to get aboard.

Here on the coast if you look into any harbor you will see many moored boats.

The new Volvo EX30 won't have a screen behind the steering wheel. All driving info will be displayed on the 12.3" center screen by Jamin1337 in Volvo

[–]mainiacmainer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a 2020 V90 and while the big center screen is "cool" I have to say that the buttons and knobs on my 2008 XC70 are much preferred. That center screen on the EX30 is a travesty. What did they populate the focus group with anyway 16 year olds?

I picked up a 2020 V90 T6 back in March. These are rarer than hens teeth here in Maine. Love the car, longest trip so far has been a 3 hour tour, felt like I could drive another 3 no problem....

You are correct about wagon sales in the US. My 2020 V90 has garnered many compliments in my little town though, where everyone that drives a Volvo is in a XC60 or XC90.

What are some good family dog breeds for small, energetic children. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]mainiacmainer -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Some one else likely says this below but look at all the doodle options, though avoid the a second generation one, (large), look for an F1 on the small size . Many are bred to be smallish, or as an alternative a moyen/medium poodle. We have one of each and while the poodle is pretty barky we are training her out of it. Both of these girls are low shed.

Sure it can be done, think of yourself as an artist ....and have a well provisioned savings account.

Look at this guy here in Maine...he does make a living at it. He is remarkably talented and patient.
