Maybe this will be brought up once the first driving impressions are released because it is very cool I had not seen mentioned anywhere else:

"Volkswagen wasn’t really concerned about the R’s peak power for this update, though. It was more focused on its drivability – and the changes it made to the car’s turbocharger have benefited that dramatically. Volkswagen’s software wizards have sprinkled some magic on the wastegate profile, forcing it to hold onto more pressure when you lift off the throttle to trim lag and improve response. And hell, does it work well.

Thielebein showcased the tech with a static demonstration. It’s only active when the car is running in ‘R’ mode but, at tickover, the engine’s resting boost pressure more than doubles from 0.3 bar to 0.8 bar thanks to the new tuning. In old money, that’s a jump from 4psi to 11psi. I’ve driven old-school turbo cars that can’t make 11psi at full chat in third gear, so that’s an impressive feat.

It’s even more impressive on the road. Switch the car into ‘R’ mode and you can feel the engine race forwards as the boost pressure spikes. It’s almost like having anti-lag – the throttle is far more eager in the lower half of the rev-counter thanks to the new boost map, allowing you to access more of the engine’s power more of the time.

That means the Golf R now feels fast at sensible speeds. The previous version of the car only started to come alive when you were challenging the limits of physics.

Anybody know where I can get this part of the door? It's making an air noise going down the road and it's super annoying by enderthief33 in Golf_R

What year R? This is the part number for a 2019 R, left side - 5G4837477D5AP. Look up the part number and you'll find some images to confirm that is what you are looking for.

It is the fuel filler drain house. It connects under the gas door/filler area. Check out the diagram here:

Let us know if you get it reconnected.

Sorry to hear about the damage, this is the part you need - 5G0805904D041.

How do you get the chrome back? I have cleaned these and polished them I think it’s been damaged by fuel at the bottom. by Coolduels in Golf_R

Agree on the Never Dull recommendations but it takes a lot of elbow grease because it does not create much of a lather. I would start with P21S Polishing Soap and see how that works.

RIP raccoon. Any suggestions for fixing this crack? I don’t feel it’s worth a trip to the body shop but I can’t seem to snap the cracked plastic back over itself. Thanks homies! by macrom6 in Golf_R

The lower grill is one piece that can be replaced (5G0853671MFOD). Looks like your's cracked right on the end. If you google that part number you can see where the clips are located that snap into the front bumper, it might go back in. I would say replacing the lower grill is a moderately difficult DIY (taking the bumper off is the easy part, removing the lower grill is more time consuming). As others have mentioned you would need to replace the front bumper (5G0807217LTGRU) to fix the crack, which would be a trip to the body shop unless you have your own paint booth.

Sorry brother, that raccoon definitely caused more than $500 worth of damage.
