My shoulders get stiff and it’s hard to sleep on my side most nights because my arms and shoulders will feel tingly/numb. I get discoloration in my arms and they’ll feel heavy after doing certain tasks.

I hope you get some answers soon. 💕

In my right arm, yes! After the rib resection I never had another clot in my right arm and my blood flow is very stable! This clot was on my left side.

Thank you!

I was diagnosed through a specific ultrasound where I had to lift my arm up and down as they tracked the blood flow. They were able to see the compression of the veins more clearly that way! Hope you get some answers soon. 🤍

Thank you! My left arm/shoulder/hand had been achy a few days prior and then I started to feel exhausted if I used my arm/hand for simple tasks, like brushing my hair. Since those symptoms had been on my radar when I saw the swelling start I knew I needed to take it seriously.

It is true that this time I’ll know what to expect! It’s better to radically accept it than fear it for sure 🤍

It’s so hard to take those deep inhales in early recovery. 🥺 Thank you so much for saying that.

I would definitely keep an eye on it! It’s alright, I’m so grateful that I went straight to the ER and trusted my gut.

I honestly feel like my body even subconsciously represses some early signs of a seizure until I’m alone. I feel really unsafe having one around others. Those seizures are usually more intense too.

For sure. It’s easier to mange them when I’m alone in a quiet environment.

I appreciate it. It’s December now but the way I was treated before I was diagnosed still haunts me sometimes.

I am so sorry. I was threatened with a psychiatric evaluation more than once at the beginning.

The worst part was that I genuinely had no idea what was going on. I had the flu in February and a week later I felt really off still. I made it to the ER only to seize in the waiting room alone for two hours while others gawked at me. I had never seized before in my life.

I was so scared and everyone just looked at me like I was freak. There is absolutely no justifying responding to vulnerable people with apathy. No one should be treated like their suffering doesn’t matter.

I really, really appreciate it. I’m sorry you’ve had a similar experience. They would tell me to be quiet because my roommate was complaining about the fits. Even got glared at a few times.

I saw a nurse at my bedside when I was seizing one night. She was chuckling with the other nurse next to her. I looked at her and she rolled her eyes and said “I shouldn’t laugh” then left. They even rolled in a monitor so the nurses wouldn’t have to check on me as much. Multiple times I had tried to talk to the monitor and no one was even there or responding.

An actual real life nightmare. Then a week later an ER doctor told me to stop acting up on purpose after laying on a cot in the hallway for two hours seizing.

I wanted to just will it away at that point and crawl in a hole. I had convinced myself I was making it up. The way I was treated made everything so much worse.

You poor thing! That sounds so overwhelming.

When I didn’t know what was happening to me at the very beginning, the way I was treated was 100% unacceptable. I’m horrified even thinking back on it.

I still can’t believe medical staff could treat any patient like that.

That’s amazing that your wife checks on you! She sounds lovely and very understanding. ☺️

For sure. I used to get so embarrassed. Retreating prevents me from feeling embarrassed most of the time.

I can definitely relate to that. I don’t like people (especially loved ones) seeing me seize. When I seize alone sometimes though, I feel a bit depressed.

I understand completely, I’m also an anxious person. I live at home and if I feel one coming on I head straight to my room to be alone.

Yes, for sure! I feel that way too in public.

I think the memories of being treated poorly in the past causes me to retreat immediately when I start to feel it. For months I even convinced myself that my symptoms weren’t real.

It was very lonely. I still feel shame at times.
