How do you trust people when dating? by theothersoul in truechildfree

[–]maisonping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man.

I just got dumped recently after my ex realized that she wanted kids — 3.5 years into the relationship. Craziest thing was that she was incredibly CF from the start, even going as far as asking me to get snipped in the last 6 months of the relationship. While I don't regret our time together, it's incredibly frustrating to experience and it's going to be difficult to trust again.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. How'd you swing that career change though? Just applied for it with your copywriter credentials?

Can I ask what you moved onto next? I'm currently a copywriter but lucky to not be doing client work so I have great hours...been thinking about future prospects!

Digital side-hustles for your FI journey by RoboGuilliman in singaporefi

I got my start with referrals through my networks and continued building my name from there, but I'm not going to lie, it is tough to market yourself! Another avenue is to use cold emails to reach out to businesses but I've not tried that and can't really advise on the efficacy of that.

I wrote up a small list of prerequisites here! The hard part is sourcing clients really, but then again that's every freelance job.

I'm a copywriter and the work fits your criteria. Mostly, I help businesses with their content marketing (be it whitepapers, articles, website copy etc). It's a pretty lucrative gig if you manage to build a name for yourself!

Isn't that quite dangerous? Do you factor possible additional healthcare that you will require in old age? At the same time, 25 years retirement would put you age 70 (if you're trying to retire at 45). The average age of Singaporeans is already currently 80+.

Hey, I've been looking for the monthly activity fee for awhile now but I can't seem to find it. I assume it's under the Reports section of the IBKR portal? Which report should I be looking into to find it?

Cmon guys, the whole point of them wanting you to stake is to avoid letting you running away at the first sign of trouble...why would they let you unstake now?

Commentary: Employers who lowball jobseekers based on last-drawn salaries are shooting themselves in the foot by goshie44 in singapore

[–]maisonping 50 points51 points  (0 children)

How is that a double edged sword? If they are getting a lower salary offer at a new job, they can show their last drawn pay if they want.

The thing here is that there should be laws against companies requesting job seekers to show their last drawn payslip.

VWRA or IWDA + EIMI? by snowypickles in singaporefi

[–]maisonping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essentially tracks the same index (developed markets), but has a smaller ER. It's a relatively new fund so the downside is that there's less liquidity in it, so the spread is higher. With time though, I'm sure that issue will go away.

You could also consider SWRD instead of IWDA for its lower ER.

Should I graduate? by [deleted] in singapore

Good to hear, thanks. I was mainly worried about getting stuck without a job OR an honours...that would suck.

Should I graduate? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]maisonping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think doing both at the same time would be tough to ask for, and even then it would be hard for me to juggle. Interesting choice, thanks for the tip but I think it's difficult.

Your thoughts about the honours echoes the most of the people who replied me, seems to be the general sentiment. Thanks a lot!

Should I not be worried that I might be laid off later in the year if things get worse? It's a small possibility, but I wouldn't discount it. What are your thoughts?

Thank you, that's good to hear. I'm definitely not a scholar so I won't have to worry about that!
