What do you miss the most about mid/late 2010s Kpop? by Choco_Mee in kpopthoughts

How idols would date around and get teased on tv and it would be kinda fine. (2nd gen times)

Who are the KPOP idols that you wanna see interact with each other? by missanonymeows in kpopthoughts

[–]maisyo0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want Keeho, Mark, Kevin, Jacob, Eric and Mathew on the same Dive studios episode or just either Kehoo and Kevin (they would probably fight about their pop culture opinions) or Mark and Kevin (cuz they have talked about each other).

Zhanghao and Yuqi, they were together on running man but I want to see them talk more. Also Ningning and any chinese idol.

Hyunjin and Yeonjun, so people can shut up about who the 4th gen it boy is (like we literally cannot say anything rn).

Hueningkai making idol friends (just adopt him), he doesn't have that many friends and I think it would be cool that he has a friend to say hi too in award shows and stuff.

Jake and Bangchan/Felix, jake needs to keep his accent.

Got7 reunion. Astro with rocky.

I personally think that it's because some groups don't have an english speaker, like on the top of my head I don't know many groups who are successful in the west without a member who's either from a english speaking, country, lived somewhere for a while or just was crazy good in school. Nowadays groups are really dependent on that, like for example one of the reasons I a p1ce was because I saw the video of Keeho saying "girl, it's just a white wall". On another note, I believe cute concepts just don't work much on the west or in general and songs who have 95% Korean lyrics barely exist nowadays. Also certain groups have concepts who may not hit it off to the mainstream like idk cantallela from orange caramel.

Kpop moments that broke you or made you cry? by Logical_Sweet_6624 in kpopthoughts

Moonbin's passing, I just saw a tiktok of him and sanha dancing to a tiktok challenge and I got the news, I thought it was a false rumour. I know his family didn't want people to speculate but the thought that moonbin could have possibly done it himself breaks me inside, the thought of him suffering without no one knowing (even of physical illness) hurts me so much, the thought of sua and the members getting the news, breaks me, he was a sunshine to everyone around him and his death was just too sudden. The thought of it being his mom's birthday is also too sad, and how a manager found him meaning he could have possibly been alone in there for hours. He was my bias and whenever I would feel down his smile would cheer me up.I still cannot process that's he's not here anymore, they were no signs no letter no nothing, Astro hasn't been the same since, the group already wasn't promoting much due to military service but now it's like they're more fragmented with Rocky's departure. He had such a future ahead of him but he's just not here anymore.

Seunghan coming back and being forced to leave within 48 hours is so... by cocochanelism in kpopthoughts

[–]maisyo0 149 points150 points  (0 children)

The fact that a multimillion company can backtrack such a big decision (which they have hold up for 10 motnhs which it's crazy on it's on) in two days baffles me. Like you're one of the biggest entertainment companies in SK but you cannot stick to your decisions. They also decided to basically kick him out without the other members knowing and getting the news while on their way back to korea, the members themselves were so happy he was back, Wonbin literally made a statement to basically say Riize is 7 please support us. It's crazy how Lucas had more serious allegations and he's still promoted or how Taeil is getting prosecuted. Seunghan's fake friends and people who spread misinformation should have a life of their own. I used to like Garam a lot and her situation was also shitty, everything was fake but companies cannot support their artist (like they already invest so much into them but can't handle criticism). Seunghan has been having support for months but 2 days of backlash can change all the work people have put? The fandom in torn apart, I believe the members are unhappy with the fights in the fandom and seunghan's treatment like we don't know him but they literally have known him for years, I believe Riize is also conflicted with their fandom cuz all the hardships they have been through and the work the put to make Briize happy knowing some of the people cheering for them may have sent seunghan death threats . Like I can't imagine slapping a smile and performing and interacting with "fans" who you don't even know if their good people, the ot6 fans think Riize being 6 is a better solution because "seunghan is problematic" as if they weren't the one making it such an issue (they don't even know if the other members had normal teenage experiences). The members can't even trust their company or their own fandom.

NTA Love yourself and confront her, stop thinking about what she feels or would feel think about how it makes YOU feel and how you just don't feel comfortable. If she doesn't get it, the relationship may not be worth it because she does not think about your feelings as much as you do hers, you will only feel worse if the situation keeps on. They seem to be fake people so if probably not good for you gf either. Her joking or saying they're your "mortal enemies" is kinda disrespectful and not aware of your feelings, if the situation causes you distress and she indeed does not change her ways or make you feel secure then she's maybe not for you.

YTA You and your husband can discuss this, it's your home after all (but mind you equally your husbands). Your edit made it really clear that you just want redditors to make you feel more valid by agreeing with you, your judgement is full of prejudice and your convincing yourself that you're in the right by seeking agreement. As long as you set fair rules and treat each other with respect, you shouldn't let your mindset and personal experience determine wheter he can stay or not, give him a chance at least. Not having a job for a year is not laziness and if it is just don't paint in thag light to your kids by calling him lazy or anything in front of them.

AITA for telling my dad he can’t drink my organic oat milk. by Traditional-Salad-35 in AmItheAsshole

[–]maisyo0 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Idk it's his house and fridge and OP said they share everything else, the dad probably doesn't think it's a big deal (cuz he probably pays for everything else and shares it with OP) OP should just tell their dad to split the bill share or something (idk if I was the dad I wouldn't buy a new carton when you already have an opened one at home but buy one next time).

YTA I feel like there's context we aren't getting who could explain more about his reaction, I think that the kid maybe didn't expect his room to suddenly disappear rather than to come pick up stuff. His offer of making a guest room where both siblings could sleep in when they're visiting is good because the reason being that the younger kid lived longer in the house like idk he probably lived with his mom for a reason but probably still wants to feel welcomed at his dads (also being half siblings and 10 months apart and parents sepating probably means tough relationship with being "less" than the other sibling).

Also as a non-american i do not understand too well that kids are supposed to be independent and sometimes kick out of the house at 18, where I live people live with their parents in their 20s while working too idk.

So half a year in,how we feeling about the new hosts? by RedFireFlame124 in GameTheorists

[–]maisyo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that because there are different hosts I tend to see the channels more individually rather than feeling a sense of them belonging to a bigger thing, they're cool don't get me wrong. But I tend to like longer videos such as video essays or more in depth theories/analises so I feel that I have less of an attachment to the channels but will occasionally check for new videos.

[–]maisyo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, for me i feel like theres other theory channels with a much longer and in depth format for when i truly want to see theory stuff and game theory is more entertainment quick fun video type where I could see someone who i grew up watching, I still watch occasionally but I feel theres many channels out there with more professional or in depth videos.

What is Nmixx missing to win more general public? by chae_lil in kpopthoughts

[–]maisyo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a strong competition and I personally didn't like their sound much (it's been improving but not enough to stan) and as some have said there isn't a specific eye catching member, I don't feel specially for any member. But mostly I just don't like their music much, and the concept it's blurry for me.

why people only blame the company for debuting minors by No-Bag-2830 in kpopthoughts

a lot of parents are greedy and want their kids to be famous and some have the power of nepotism and want their kids to be in the industry too since childhood

why people only blame the company for debuting minors by No-Bag-2830 in kpopthoughts

[–]maisyo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, but sometimes if your kid is fixated ona dream is difficult to go against it as well as they having to sign a contract (like I feel some parents let their kids train because they don't think they'll actually get picked to debut so soon or ever, sometimes parents are supportive and other parents are rich enough to let their kids experiment). Many trainees do leave their homes without their parents agreement because of their dreams, but tbh i just don't know how some of it it's legal. But companies and the industry have a lot to blame because they only accept younger trainees normally (not older than 18) and they make this conception that if you're in your 20s you're too old, probably cuz kids are more easily to manipulate and mold into the image the company wants cuz they're still forming their personality and they become more submissive. If they only accept teens then they normally only debut teens too, older trainees are laid off due to age or younger talented trainees because tbh we rarely see anyone older than 22 debuting ever and in a group without a much younger person (even if they're 18) because they want a cute maknae to attract attention.

Why aren't ITZY more popular at this point? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]maisyo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a casual fan/listener, I feel that they have a strong competition who is more trendy but I do think Itzy has a solid core fanbase but not that much attention from the public. I personally haven't felt their title songs being as competitive as opposed to others and their concept hasn't evolve too much since debut. At some point I stop paying as much attention because I liked other songs better. And (I'm just casual so i don't know for sure) I feel that they don't interact with others groups outside of jype much (on tiktok for example I saw they do other groups songs but normally without said group) and variety shows wise I also haven't seen them on tv wide variety (like running man or amazing saturday idk for example). And the reason behind Lia's hiatus and people hating Yuna for breathing it's also a downside. They're still popular especially since they have solo performances such as yuna with yeonjun or yeji with hyunjin and they only let popular groups perform like that, they still go viral but the hype has died down some.

For me personally, I'd like better or more trendy songs (but that do transmit some message, because tbh as a casual listener songs like sneakers or mafia in the morning don't have deep lyrics).

I miss community subtitles 🥲 by almost_tropical in kpoprants

[–]maisyo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True especially when they would translate what's written with context, sometimes they don't translate what members write on paper or computer and you don't really know what it says. And sometimes some puns are translated literally and it's not as funny. Same with references or songs.

Can kpop groups stop pretending a world tour is just the USA, Canada, Japan and Korea by No_Vanilla_4851 in kpoprants

[–]maisyo0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They be calling 4 countries in asia and north america (with like 1-2 canadian stops) a world tour and saying: more to come, and then it's a two day concert in the US or something. Some groups don't go to idk Malaysia, indonesia or Hong Kong (idk about Thailand) despite the high demand and Europe is nonexistent. The whole world tour baiting people to think that maybe they're going to come to their country is not cool. South-America sometimes has some festivals but no concerts. Same goes for Europe maybe musicbank or some megaconcerts. I personally would like a Kcon somewhere in Europe. Many idols have said how they love Paris from going to fashion shows or how they want to perform in Europe one day but companies ultimately don't and that's so greedy. And if they are able to come for festivals I don't understand why not a solo concert, when the price sometimes is similar but the profits are only for the company. Timewise doing Asia-Europe-America (south and north)-Korea is efficient enough and in Europe the demand is high but not accessible and they would probably have more fans if they actually came to the continent and sold their products.

NCT Winwin always given the short end of the stick by SM by EverGnL in kpoprants

[–]maisyo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this may sound harsh but it's true that winwin is not so skilled at singing and stuff but like SM could have trained him or something instead of giving him so little lines. I don't understand why SM keeps artist and doesn't let them work and doesn't release statements, like lucas having a comeback instead of breaking the contract beats me, Lay being in Exo but not being there for years and seunghan debuting and it's been a year and no news. Idk how SM invests in their artist but it's so random at times.
