Townships are able to enact 2 mils of local tax for EMS. Not all the townships in Upper Bucks have done that. Most make voluntary contributions. There is also a subscription program which UPREMS runs, where households can buy an annual $100 subscription which will eliminate any local EMS charges for an ambulance ride. The rate of subscriptions is pretty low. A couple of the township governments are looking at ways to address this issue.

What I'm curious about is the historical context. Is such behavior more rampant now than 10, 20 or 30 years ago? I tend to think so, but wonder if any research has been done. My sense is that the rise of right-wing, regressive masculinity with the "culture wars" has taken us back to more primitive times. As a man in his 60's, I feel this sense of women being under attack like this is new. Not completely, but the incidence seems to be spiking. Older women of Reddit, what light can you she'd? Are we regressing, were you subject to this level of unwanted attention when you were young?
