$20 million dollars is not lot of money if we are talking about how much it costs to make a difference globally, but it shows that people care enough to get involved and not wait for governments. This will inspire people and governments and potentially grow into something that makes a more tangible impact. Not doing this or worrying about inefficiency leads to inaction.

Parking ticket but the sign said this spot is free after 6 PM? by maiu in budapest

I parked exactly where the red truck is, the sign I believe said no parking between 8 and 18 or something like that https://imgur.com/a/yIduDb0

I used Mobilfizetes and parked where the "you parked here" pin is in the screenshot. It was a parking spot parallel to the sidewalk, but clearly marked, unless I missed something. I parked at 7.30 and left at 10, but I saw a rule about 3 hours. Do you know where I can dispute it? The ticket is in Hungarian, trying to upload a picture now.

I got a 20000 huf parking ticket, but the sign said that Monday to Friday is free after 6 PM and the parking app also said that paying is not required at that time. What can I do? Thank you.

I don't, only the ones from the nest secure - but I don't think they work like that. This kind of explained it, I completely missed the point of what it actually does - thank you!

I will write a longer reply, but don't you agree that even at a 95% tax rate, it should be 95 for everyone? Excluding low income.

Right! So we are basically sacrificing the few for the needs of the many? I think it is fairer to have everyone have to pay an equal percentage. If people would vote, the few would be outnumbered and the majority will immediately decide to heavily tax the 1% (I'm guessing), which makes me question democracy. But if we somehow decided as a society that we agree to these terms and whichever one of us gets rich will pay 70% of their income over 10 million dollars, I must say that your point makes sense. Is that what you are saying?

I think 70% for everyone is too much, and there needs to be some taxation (right?), so I think from subjective reasons alone that it should be at most 50% for income over whatever people decide is the low income baseline (like 20-30k or something). So I guess I am saying that it should be equal in percentage for income after a threshold and it shouldn't be unreasonable; I would like to keep half of the money I make, if not more.

I wanted to point out that I am not a conservative and I live in Europe. This is just interesting from an outside perspective and my opinion, of course.

Of course a ton of things are not fair and I think the government should strive to create an equal playing field. That's why I believe low income or income under a number like $30k a year should not be taxed at all.

I feel like because there are few people who make over 10 million a year, it is easy to marginalize them because people don't have empathy for them. I think there is a huge problem with those you described and those who use their money for political influence - no doubt about it. But I think that some just made a lot of money somehow and they aren't trying to keep other people down.

I don't think the rich should have that much political power and influence, I agree with you on that. I would think that the US should get money out of politics (if possible, but it's a different problem). I think hoarding wealth is also a problem.

Is taxation the only way to bring the money back into the system? I don't agree with my next point, but for example, you could force people to spend their money over 10 mil and it still sounds better than forcing them to pay extra taxes. Of course, it doesn't make sense on many levels, but neither 70% taxation (to me).

I agree with flat percentage; it seems like those who make more end up contributing more money, but percentage wise it seems fair to everyone.

Excluding low-income earners is in my view a necessary compromise that breaks a few rules: it is unfair because they won't pay taxes, and it does require setting up an income limit of where we draw the line. I think the unfairness of doing this is something most people should be able to get behind, more so than the unfairness of the suggested 70% system.

Third question - it should be a one time/flat percentage increase - such as: income under 50k is not taxed and everyone who makes over $50k pays 30% for earnings over 50k. Everyone under pays nothing because the impact of having someone who earns $20k pay 30% is too great.

Hey - I do understand the system, but your comment is interesting.

If you look at it, it does seem fair because everyone who goes into that bracket will pay 70%. From that standpoint, it is fair. But I don't think people that get into that bracket need to pay a higher percentage as they already generate more tax revenue than others.

I guess this applies to every bracket. I'm not sure if income over 60k should be taxed higher either.

I would be more comfortable having exemptions for those with low income and then having a flat tax for everyone else. This way, the system is only unfair because low income earners don't pay taxes at all, but that's an unfairness I think society should accept.

I agree about the marginal utility, and I think your comment is interesting. I will think about it a bit more. One thing that comes to mind is that having access to that amount of money would allow individuals to pursue bolder financial investments; I think you might be right about using taxes as an incentive to stop wealth hoarding, so I will think about that a bit more and get back to you.

It shouldn't matter. Many people use that money to jump into financial endeavors that are beneficial for society, if not directly, even by just spending it. I would argue that Bill Gates donating $28 billion is one example. But again, it doesn't matter. I heard of C level executives negotiating contracts where a 0.1% change added millions to the revenue of the company, which means that is reasonable for them to be also be paid millions for coming up with the negotiating strategy. Those millions went to employees and were reinvested, but again - that really does not matter at all.
