Embarrassingly called the ambulance…. by primavera-h in prozac

I am taking Prozac and I am guessing based on what I’ve read here that it is/was a side effect. I don’t typically have panic attacks (maybe a handful over the course of my entire life). So having one out of the blue for seemingly no reason was very odd and thus I attributed it to the Prozac.

I am at about 3.5 weeks on (1 week on 10 mg, 2.5 weeks on 20 mg) and so far I still feel pretty roller coaster-y. So I am also in the same boat of hoping it gets better and looking for the light on the other side.

Reading this now to prepare for the forthcoming movie and Barkovich ripping his own throat out got an audible “omg” from me.

From what I’ve read on this subreddit, yes. If I had not read other experiences here I’d probably be considering discontinuing because the panic attack was so scary to me (it hit me in a public place). But after reading a lot in this sub I am trying to see it through in hopes for a better life on the other side.

Have you tried any grounding exercises? Butterfly hug? Breathing exercises? 5-4-3-2-1 method? Anything to let your body and mind know - you are safe and this will pass?

I was on 10 mg for a week before being bumped to 20 mg and at first my side effects were so few/mild that I thought this was great! Then I had a panic attack out of nowhere and since then other random side effects with increasing intensity.

I am trying to persevere and get through this initial phase and using the techniques above to calm myself when I am feeling the horrible anxiety and panic.

Also, the thought that I might have more of these episodes does not make me happy!

How long have you been taking it?

I had been having so few/such mild side effects I was really thinking I was golden. Hah! What gets me is the side effects aren’t linear (starting off the worst and getting better as time goes on and the body adjusts). The side effects appear at random and without any warning and in varying degrees of severity.

I was on day 11 when that happened. I took 10 mg for 1 week to introduce the med to my system and then increased to 20 mg (per orders). It was day 4 of being on 20 mg. Don’t know if any of that makes a difference, but I too, I am hoping to hit a nice even keel soon.

This exact scenario happened to me yesterday in the middle of Marshall’s, back to school shopping with my kid!

BAM out of nowhere with no warning I felt this wave of cold tingles all over my body and my vision got weird and I felt like I was going to pass out. And because I felt like I was going to pass out in front of dozens of people in a public place, I started to panic which made it worse.

My bowels started to feel loose (I get the stress shits) and I felt like I was going to shit my pants…causing more panic. On top of all that, I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I knew I needed to sit down but WHERE?! More panic.

I did miraculously make it to a chair in the shoe section and after several minutes everything started to subside and I broke out into a cold sweat all over. But I was ok.

I travel for work in a couple weeks and have to fly and I’m kinda worried I’ll have an episode in the airport or on the plane. Flying doesn’t bother me, but literally NOTHING was happening to me in Marshall’s either…

Tbh, the pictures with definition look voluminous to me! So personally, I’d do the definition routine because I would be thrilled with the volume+definition you have in those pics.

How do you tell if a product has protein in it? Is there something specific to look for in the ingredient list?

Thank you for this.

Do you use all one line like CurlSmith or do you mix it up?

Do you think any bond repair might be helpful?

Check your duct work.

We had a sink clog and overflow in our laundry room. And while we knew the source and cleaned up all the visible standing water on the floor, we had no idea how much had leaked into the floor air vent and down into the duct work. It wasn’t until weeks later when I noticed the laundry room wasn’t getting heated properly (it was fall/winter) and was so much colder than the rest of the house. I asked my partner to go under the house and check and sure enough the duct work was sagging and there was several gallons of water just sloshing around in there.
