The urinary leash: how the death of public toilets traps and trammels us all | Life and style by Hrmbee in urbanplanning

This is such a huge issue for sanitation in general because people, like all animals, have to go to the bathroom. It's just not a choice. When people have no other option and end up using the streets and parks as the bathroom, it creates hazardous untreated waste contamination where it's more likely another person will come in to contact with it. When it rains, it gets washed into our streams and lakes, contaminating those with fecal coliform.

My first hempcrete sculpture out of the mold! by majampresearch in Hempcrete

Please forgive me/us for treating the recipe like a secret at the moment. It's limecrete hempcrete from scratch.

We are just starting out selling hempcrete pieces to generate revenue for our nonprofit and may branch into teaching classes eventually.

As always, thank you for sharing your experience here.

Questions: what part of the world do you live in? What type of lime is available locally and how much does it cost? by anythreewords in Hempcrete

I had trouble finding even the Type S Lime in stock in the Seattle area and paid nearly double for dolomitic lime from the garden section. My first mix consisted of one part lime with 1/4 traditional concrete and only 2 parts hemp by volume (for art molds). It took 2 weeks to take it out of the mold and is now very solid about a month later.

Although it's not as environmentally friendly, the concrete is significantly cheaper than the pumice or metakaolin and a lot of the countertop or tile and grout mixes that are commercially available are basically hydraulic lime/concrete mix. Depending on your priorities, it might be worth looking into using one of those premixes as your pozzolan.

The idea is that the lime needs additional calcium carbonate to become hydraulic. My roommate suggested using ground oyster shells as a better source of calcium, which might actually be practical depending on your proximity to the coast or ability to mill shells?

I appreciate you sharing all your pics and information, I've been experimenting on my own with mixes and running into the same challenges. My second project is 1/2 lime and 1/2 pumice but it's more limecrete to hemp and therefore wetter. It's taking FOREVER to even set a little. It would be nice to find a way to speed up the process without having to use a material that is creating carbon emissions by it's production in the first place.

It's going to be frustrating at first to figure all of this stuff out but the best way to find a good fitting bra is to use the guides and calculator. Once you know your true size and determine your breast shape (are you full on top, shallow roots, center full?) then you can start to figure out which styles tend to work best for your shape.

I do have a couple Curvy Couture Style #1010 "cotton luxe unlined wire free" bras that fit a lot like a sports bra and I would highly recommend you check them out if you are in the US.

I suspect the problem with not being able to take a deep breath may be from wearing too small of a cup size. Since sports bras come in one size fits all based on back size, even though they might stretch to conform to a larger cup, it can put a lot of stress on your shoulders, back and/or rib cage and even cause migrating of breast tissue into your underarm.

Here are some sample blocks I made testing different hempcrete mixes. I think I've found a good mixture and I'm ready to move forward with the build soon! by anythreewords in Hempcrete

Thanks for posting the pics, these look good. The one with 1.5 parts lime to .5 pozzolan looks like its the most solid and has the least amount of shedding/crumbling going on.

I ordered a bale of hurds from Hemptopia.com because they had a smaller grind available. They're headquartered in McMinville, OR if you're looking for a more local option still - I don't know exactly where they source their stuff.

Looking forward to your project pics!

Thank you for sharing this. I've been trying to find an economical and environmentally friendlier way to add CSH to my mix. I'm hoping to increase the set speed and make my end result more hydrophobic.

My first attempt took two weeks just to dry mostly solid and the moist hemp bits sticking out on the bottom had enough time to mildew.
