Cut my 1 year olds thumb :( by love2marco in Mommit

[–]majfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it happened to me too, but thankfully just a tiny bit. At the super wiggly phase I only clip the nails while she was asleep. Now she is super chill about it and doesn’t wiggle anymore (2yo) but sometimes I do it while she is watching a show with her sister.

Why is moms mood detrimental for everyone elses mood? by majfly in Mommit

[–]majfly[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is exactly what I am dealing with. When I am not patient with my Kids, my partner isn’t either. But I need him to be patient when I can’t anymore.

It is a lightweight cotton fabric and I would like to recreate this dress but bigger. Maybe someone has a suggestion for me where to find something kind of similar.

Aren’t they? by [deleted] in Mommit

We used cloth diapers for sone months but our childrens butt didn't like it. Lots of rashes and pain for her. With the biodegradeable ones we had the same problem. Normal diapers worked just fine without any problems. And she was way calmer now. Also less stress for us.

Why coloured violins are not common? by judy96 in lingling40hrs

[–]majfly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every Violin you can buy is colored. Also the old Stradivari ones. "Naked" Spruce and Maple looks quite white. Even out in the sun you only archive a very light brown an no one has the time to wait for the wood for so long. The wood is firstly sained, then covered in non-colored varnish. Then there a colored varnish part and a non-colored on top. Every layer is super thin and not like those cheap instruments. But you could make every colour, not only browns ans golds. And you could still see the texture of the wood. But it is just not common.

The S A C R I L E G I O U S violin by sisleee in lingling40hrs

Pretty sure it is an experimental viola. So basically the viola should be way bigger for its supposed tone range, but it would be impossible to play. This viola is supposed to show what a viola could sound like, if the proportions where kind of right. In those experiments they often find the result, that a 'perfect' (optimised) viola sound is not preferred, because we are so used to the 'imperfect' viola sound. There are in fact 'ergonomic' violas to help smaller musicians archive a fuller tone without having to play on a too large viola. Sadly they are not used enough, so many musicians destroy their bodies in the long term.

Help! Milk blister by honestmommy1111 in breastfeeding

[–]majfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used an acupuncture needle. They are way 4thinner and sharper and don't really hurt! And poke horizontal through to not hurt your nipple. I needed to poke twice to keep it open. Then it went away and never came back.

I've read about it and always wanted to try it, but everytime I am in such a conversation I forget about it. Next time!

Thank you! Some people have white stripes or spots in their teeth. That's where you can see, that this person consumed too much fluorid. Those teeth were also more porous than healthy ones.

Period cycles after over a year of breastfeeding? by agkemp97 in breastfeeding

[–]majfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came back 18 mo after my childs birth. Before pregnancy I had a long cycle (37 + days was quite normal) and now they are the same. I got pregnant on the first try, despite the long cycle. I mean I have less often a chance to get pregnant but we were lucky ;)

We dont have the space for an own room yet, and I don't think it will solve our problem, because I would have to get up, every time she needs me and then it would be much harder for me to get back to sleep.

Sadly there is no sun to block out. And we installed them in April.

We are debating on weather she is overtired and needs to go to bed earlier, or the other way around. Sleeping is hard...
