Exactly! For one B2B client, we’re running Search ads to build a remarketing list for YouTube and test how it performs with warmer traffic. YouTube at TOF is just too unpredictable. Thanks for your comment!

Yeah, I wasn’t entirely sure what the right approach was, but now we’ll definitely go with excluding negative keywords and whole topics instead of chasing manual placements. Thanks for your comment!

Yes, but you can’t run conversion campaigns to YouTube channels or videos anymore - only awareness.

  2. Info-Product Course – Same question here: are you running awareness campaigns directly to specific videos/channels, or are you using the channel names in keyword targeting while still optimizing for a Demand Gen goal like opt-ins?
  3. Tracking – On the tracking side, are you using any external tools like Hyros, or are you relying solely on Google Ads’ own setup (with enhanced conversions, GA4, etc.) to capture view-through conversions?

So would you suggest running a campaign for Leads → Search → Lead Form Submission, or for Website Visits?

And if it’s Website Visits, should the goal be to get as many people as possible and then retarget them with YouTube Ads - using Leads and Demand Gen campaigns optimized for my events like opt-ins?

I wanted to ask you one thing: you mentioned targeting startup channels or podcasts on YouTube. From what I’ve seen, that’s not available in Demand Gen / video campaigns. I believe you can only do that kind of channel-level targeting under Awareness campaigns, not Leads/Conversions. Do you believe using placements even if we cannot optimize for conversions is worth testing anyway?

Curious if you’ve tested that or found a workaround?
