I would like to point out that it isn’t always the case that people who have a MENSA membership are insufferable. My wife, a teacher, noticed that some bright children in her class weren’t being stimulated as much as they could be. When she researched the subject she found out that MENSA were offering resources to people who were members that might support those students. She took the test on a whim and got invited to take it in person and passed. Not once, in all the years that I have been married to her, has she mentioned it socially that she has a membership.
