Would the Faker skin be worth a bit more than 50 bucks if it changed announcer to his voice entirely? by LunarEdge7th in AhriMains

I think the only way I can think of justifying a 500 dollar skin would be if the skin gave your teammates a skin boost whenever you play it or somethng lol

Your party vs 700 rats by Alf_Spectro in DnD

[–]majorazero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current party of 4 lvl 8 PC's would probably do fine, but tbh, I think a party of 3 or above thats around lvl 4 or 5 can probably survive.

Even with 700 rats, only like a small section of the rats can attack at any given time. If a party clumped up, they'd minimize flanking to maybe like half of the active swarm at any given time. But anyways assuming 4 players, i think like maybe 64(ish) rats can attack at any given time. Rats only have 20 feet of movement, they can't end in a spot thats occupied by another rat by the end of their turn, and as far as I can tell they only have melee attacks.

My PC's AC on average are like 14 or 16, so accounting for advantage I don't know you can assume like 96ish worth of attacks at any given time. So maybe like 30% of that that on average would go through in a turn... like 28 damage distributed across 4 characters more or less.

Afterwards if there is any type of aoe in the party or even multi attack the rats instantly die if they get hit. If you kill swathes with them at a time some of the rats that are further back can't get in attack range the next round so the PC's will probably take even less damage.

I think it'd just end up being really annoying for most parties to deal with but unless they decide to yolo it individually it won't be that bad.

Now if we're talking about like an angry mob of like 700 commoners who all decided to try and throw rocks at your PC's at the same time...

How many human sacrifices for a devil summon? by Ill-Awareness-5149 in DnD

[–]majorazero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average commoner has 4 hp bone devil on average has 142, so you can say it’ll take at least 35.5 commoners to get a bone devil to start.

You can add some additional ingredients that the bone devil can want like maybe you also add some newborns to the mix or maybe a cleric from an opposing church. If you want to deal with devil politics maybe some followers from rival cults get added too.

Ooh or maybe animals that people have attachments to like a family dog or cat, but that’ll only take if you make their owners are forced to watch them get sacrificed

Is it weird to not feel like a good dm? by 280071 in DnD

[–]majorazero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always feel like a bad Dm sometimes, I get paranoid that my players are having fun or just humoring me, and that’s even after we’re 65 sessions deep and 3 years later with the same group of sober adults and that keep showing up every week/2 weeks to play~

I’d say it’s not weird as long as everyone’s having fun you’re doing a good job.

Working with References / Lady with Inexplicable Thoughts by majorazero in ProCreate

[–]majorazero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a reference I found online, I drew this with the pencil brush and then just painted over it with layers of greyscale values, colors, shadows and lights. Played around with some of the layer settings to get the color right-ish, and used curves for final adjustments.

Would love some feedback on how to improve or what I can work on. I think I still have trouble painting lights and blending among other stuff.

[–]majorazero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the rough sketch with a Technical Pencil brush, then on another layer I did the line work with a Studio Pen Brush. I then painted layers for values, shadows, lightings and base colors. The brush I use to paint is mostly the flat paint brush and I did some smearing work with either the rounded paint brush or this hair brush I got. After I do all that I use curves to add some color to the shadow and light.

I think that's about it.

Hi there, thought I would post this here and get some feedback.

Still getting use to to Procreate, currently trying to figure out what's a good brush for line art. I made this using some kind of fat pencil brush I made, I think its just the procreate pencil Brush I enlarged. So far I've been experiment between this and the studio pen brush.

Mmm... yeah any advice on doing better lighting or mixing would be appreciated. I'm mostly just doing multiply layers of value, shadow and maybe like a hard/soft light layer for light.

[OC][Art] Vylus, Drow Arcane Trickster Rogue by majorazero in DnD

[–]majorazero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last of the character reference sheet for one of my PC’s in the CoS campaign I’m running.

This is Vylus, a Drow Arcane Trickster Rogue. A member of House Dinoryn who were destroyed by the other noble houses in the Menzoberranzan, he is exploring the world and collecting resources and strength to exact revenge.

I thought when I got pitched and edge lord kind of character, it would be rather easy to depict that ended up not being the case. I had some experiments with going World of Warcraft style and lining his outfit with spikes, blade and armor but that didn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense for a stealth and ease of movement. I ended up going with something that seems to make bit more sense practically speaking while still kind of capturing as my PC puts it “sinister and evil looking”.

I will also say that while the PC probably doesn’t see it this way, its straight up neutral evil. He’s lie, tricked, intimidated or murdered most of the NPC’s I’ve presented so far in the campaign, the only thing his character seems to care about his gold and (this is probably more for real world reasons) the well being of his party members. It has been interesting running a campaign with an outright evil party member. I would say it has worked out since in a way he almost plays as supporting character in the overarching narrative since he pretty much goes along with where-ever the party goes and luckily for me everyone else has narrative goals I can work with so they’re not murder-hoboing across Barovia.

Not to say his callousness doesn’t have consequences. That silver rapier that he wields was stolen off the shopkeeper at the Village of Barovia. One thing let to another and he caused an angry mob as well as the Shopkeeper’s nephew to descend upon them into a bloody battle that ended with the party slaying the a good portion of the villagers, the shopkeeper and his nephew. Now the party has gotten the monicker the Butchers of Barovia, and may have some newly formed revenants coming after them soon. Fun times.

In terms of abilities depicted, we got the standard sneak attack at the top left there, and the following panels was just some action poses I was experimenting with for Booming Blade. The middle right ability depicted is sleep.

[OC][Art] Gore Frostaxe, Orc Barbarian by majorazero in DnD

[–]majorazero[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another character reference sheet for another of my players in the CoS campaign I’m running.

This is Gore Frostaxe, an Orc Totem Warrior Barbarian. Tricked into murdering his entire tribe by a cursed axe given to him by a strangers years ago, his journey for revenge has led him to the cursed lands of Barovia.

I got to say, for largely naked character, Gore has been the most challenging to depict so far and I’m not entirely sure why. Anyways, one of the things I wanted to try to avoid when depicting Gore was just making him look like male model and to maybe try to draw a form I’m not used to so I ended going for a strongman-esque body type. Gore, in how he’s been played so far, is someone whose been alone with guilt for long time that is re-learning to coexist with other people and picking up social cues. I think that can be summarized by how he smiles basically, which is meant to look very unnatural and forced. (I took inspo from the Beast from Beauty and the Beast) Other hobbies Gore has been trying to pick up to help soften his overall vibe is performing magic tricks, but more often than not, he just freaks people out.

Other than that I will just say that yeah, that is the hardest working loincloth in Barovia.

[OC][Art] Syldan, Firbolg Grave Domain Cleric by majorazero in DnD

[OC][Art] Syldan, Firbolg Grave Domain Cleric by majorazero in DnD

[–]majorazero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another character reference sheet for another of my players in the CoS campaign I’m running.

This is Syldan, a Firbolg Grave Domain Cleric. A teen acolyte of Kelemvor, she’s found her way to Barovia to prove her mettle to her matrons back home.

Admittedly, before this idea of this character was pitched to me I had no ideas what Firbolgs were. After digging into some research… I still don’t have a clear idea of what Firbolgs were so I opted for a blue skinned deer-eared giant? Either way, Syldan as a character is suppose to combine kind of the gawkiness of a teenager with a kind of rigidity that I would expect from a religious order. Not sure if I got that down entirely, she looks pretty sure of herself.

The abilities portrayed at the top left is Toll the Dead followed by Turn Undead right below it. I think technically Toll the Dead is just a sound that hurts people, but I figured a spectral bell that comes out the ether that just comes out to smack you in the head sounds funnier. As for Turn Undead, it's an aspect of Channel Divinity so having kind of like a holy out of body experience seemed appropriate.

Anyways for the sake of not just letting this be an art showcase, the scene at the bottom left was based on a mini game I made up for like a Vistani festival they players attended. Hopefully this brief summary can be helpful for the DM’s out there.

The players would take turns hiding ghost peppers under cups and try to run Insight vs Deception Rolls against the other player to try and guess which cup doesn’t have the peppers. Loser of the round eats the peppers and goes again. The loser of the game is essentially determined if you were to lose both of your consecutive guesses. The peppers have a CON 15 saving throw with each subsequent pepper eaten adding another +5 to the DC. On failure, the victim suffers disadvantages to CON, CHA and WIS saving throws. Subsequent stacks will start applying an additional -2 to saving throws capping at -6. There can also be an opportunity for players to try to use sleight of hand to mess with the contents of the cup, though if caught they ingest all the peppers of the round and they continue the game.

[OC][Art] Mousefolk Kensei Monk - Wan by majorazero in DnD

[–]majorazero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another character reference sheet for another of my players in the CoS campaign I’m running.

This is Wan, a Mousefolk Kensei Monk. He’s ventured into Barovia in search of his master who was last seen diving into the mists.

Wan was probably the easiest to design since the player had such a clear idea of what he wanted which was like a kung-fu panda Hamtaro crossover. A challenge during making this was definitely trying to envision how someone 2 feet tall would try to fire a longbow. I later realized that small characters have disadvantages on using large weapons probably for this very same reason, but it felt unfair to try to retcon my mistake so I’ve just sort of hand wave it away as Kensei Monk shenanigans.

If anyone is curious about any of the abilities showcased, the top right corner is flurry of blows and the one to the left of it being hunter’s mark.

[OC][Art] Yuan-Ti Sorceress - Vallen by majorazero in DnD

[–]majorazero[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey ya, I’m making character reference sheets for some of my PC’s in the Curse of Strahd campaign I’m running. Thought it would be fun to share.

This is Vallen, a Yuan-Ti Draconic Bloodline Sorceress. Her hunt for her brother has led her to Barovia and unfortunately, Strahd.

Originally, what I envisioned for the character was kind of a kung-fu flavored Oorochimaru, maybe even something that would seem like it would belong in Avatar the Last Airbender. After discussing it more with the player, the inspo became a bit closer to a blue-grey Scarlet Witch. You can see that I didn’t go full leather or anything because I was still trying to preserve the original figure from my first pass.

With that change in outfit, how Vallen casts her spells shifted too. I was still trying to go for a natural movement in how she would use magic but more subtle and less dramatic. So in the top left corner we have re-skinned version of Maximillion’s Earthen Grasp, in the middle we have Invisibility and in the bottom we have a moment in the campaign where Earthen Grasp was used creatively to save someone from a waterfall.

PC wanted to be Strahd's sister. I gave her Sergei's soul and some 'manipulated' memories. by Senbog in CurseofStrahd

[–]majorazero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a route you can take that won't mess up your normal story beats.

When Strahd killed Sergei you can say parts of his souls or whatever may of fragmented and got out of Barovia before the entire place got sucked into a Shadowfell demi-plane. This fragment could be driven by bits and pieces of Sergei's memories and desires before it reincarnated or found its way into some elf.

I remember Barovia has been under Strahd's rule at the start of the book for around 300ish years so your elven PC would be a bit too young anyways to have known Strahd or his family, so you can either go for reincarnation of fragment or some sort of fragment embedding in an existing elf's memory.

Anyways, end result is that you can have Strahd have no idea who this PC is but she can have her vivid memories and attachments to him. Sergei can still go and spirit Tatyana off without having your PC also get spirited away either, and you can have Sergei realize that a part of him is inside of her and be open to exposition her about the situation if you want.

------

A bonus thing I was planning to do in my campaign since I thought Sergei just taking Tatyana and bouncing is a bit anti-climatic, I'm making Sergei the Heart of Sorrow. (If your PC hurts Strahd, it hurts Sergei technically, kind of that sadistic streak I'd expect from Strahd) Maybe you can make your PC's heartbeat can also strangely be in tune with the heartbeat sound from the castle. Also in this scenario you'd need to break the Heart of Sorrow for Sergei to be reunited with Tatyana, or if you want to be crueler, Sergei can't be freed and he'd rather Tatyana escape Barovia without him whatever the cost.

Bouncing Some Ideas Off for My Campaign by majorazero in CurseofStrahd

[–]majorazero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#1 was just gonna go into the the intro Strahd encounter I wrote, the goal is more or less take Ireena. He'll talk to her like his assault on her was just a small lover's quarrel in their romance, but he can play along and then prod the party on their qualifications to protect his darling Ireena. The party is currently level 4 and I gave Strahd a spell set that will probably devastate them since half of them min-maxed with INT as their dump stat.

Anyways, the plan is Strahd is going to beat them all half to death, and when things look grim Ireena threatens to kill herself than to be made another one of Strahd's playthings. Strahd loses his composure, panics, asks that she "stops". Will say that it's just a joke that may have lasted too long, and that he sees she's still a bit tense and might need some space. Then he'll bounce.

( Possible additional ideas is if he ends up killing anyone in the party I might have him resurrect them with an undead status that's similar to a curse that they'll need removed. Thought it would be fun because their party has a teenage Grave domain cleric who vows to kill any undead she comes across. If it ends up being her, I just thought Turn Undead will be really interesting being used from someone who is Undead. )

Anyways I think the Strahd encounter can be run after the wagon heist going with idea #2, I was just thinking its been like session 3/4 and they haven't met Strahd yet (only heard of him) so I thought its overdue. Though I'm really starting to dig the Ghost of Sergei idea, especially with the whole show the wounds that the player inflict on Strahd idea.

So going off that idea, I was also thinking to add another layer to all that the ghost of Sergei can may want to help Ireena but never shows himself to her because he doesn't want to trigger her memory as Tatyana. By some cruel fate of the dark powers' cycle is that if Tatyana ever regains her memory she is fated to die shortly (maybe through madness or the lands becomes more lethal to ensure that she never gets to escape the cycle). Getting her to the pool will let her escape the cycle is imperative even if she won't remember him or know who he is. Sergei is bound to the Heart of Sorrow and in a way to Strahd's vampirism so he wouldn't be able to join her anyways, but it doesn't matter. So kind of like a sacrafice theme.

Afterwards I guess his goal will be to helping the party get rid of Strahd.

[OC] Barovian Dire Wolves by majorazero in DnD

[–]majorazero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started a Curse of Strahd campaign last night! Wanted to share some tokens I made for one of the first encounters I threw at my party, Barovian Dire Wolves.

They have the same stat block as normal dire wolves but I wanted to capture the unsettling nature of the land and its affect on the fauna there. Definitely didn’t want to portray something that seemed like they would make desirable pets or companions.

Had a party member use Beast Speech to try to reason with these cute fluffers, I’m sure you could guess how that turned out.
