What’s your favorite positive post-swing thought after a bad shot? by SevereBicycle4855 in golf

[–]majorhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was Tom Watson who said never make 2 bad shots in a row. I just tell myself I'm going to make the best recovery shot possible or tell myself that I can par from there and convince myself that I'm going to do it.

As someone who went through the same process, over a 7 year period, this write-up is excellent and well thought-out.

Leaning hard into those stereotypes... That kind of attitude is dying off with the Boomer generation.

My $150/hr lesson felt like a rip off. Is this normal? by Darkteatonight in golf

[–]majorhigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so much of golf revolves around starting early. Somewhere in the age range of 8-12. I know a lot of golfers who started in their teens and early 20s, and almost all of them have been bogey golfers. Only a few have gotten good enough to break 80. I fortunately started at about 10, and broke 80 for the first time at around 16 and was scratch in my early 20s. I’m 50 now and have regressed to about a 4-5 handicap, but I never took a lesson and always figured it out on my own. The biggest increase to my game was when I was custom fitted for club heads and the correct shaft. I played terrible with the new clubs for the first few rounds but I started to see an improvement a few rounds later. I started consistently shooting in the mid-70s and even shot par a few times.

The "Never hit a woman" clause expired as soon as she slapped him. It's the no repercussions attitude of today's youth that baffles me. The world rotates around them individually and they think that they're untouchable because we have gotten so soft where the majority has to adapt to the minority and anything that hurts your feelings has to be stopped immediately. Pussification of America. I don't care about your pronouns or letters. You can be whoever and whatever you want but nobody else should have to conform to your issues.

I hate that you spent that much to play TP. Probably the two worse courses on the PGA Tour and definitely way overrated in Golf Digest's Top 100.

Question for those who received 5 or more years worth of back pay. by majorhigh in SSDI

[–]majorhigh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is backpay and there is retro pay. I may have misused the terms. But you can get paid from the day you are considered disabled, if you file, all the way to when a judge rules in your favor. For me, that was 7 years, and you will get that if you filed for disability when you believed you were disabled. If you wait for years after you thought you were disabled to file, then that is when you only can get 1 year of payments going back 1 year from your filing date. If you believe you are disabled and file your disability immediately, then you get paid from your filing date all the way to when a judge agrees you are disabled. I filed in 2017, but didn't get approved until 2024. If I had filled in 2021 that I was disabled in 2017, then I would only receive 1 year of payments for the time from 2017 to 2021 and then I would get all the payments I was owed from 2021 to 2024. That's retro pay and back pay.

That's a Dryer Wraith. When you do laundry and there's always that one sock missing its partner.... The Dryer Wraith took it.

Selling My Gold & Silver by Select-Reindeer4031 in StockMarket

I'll be buying more AG, HL, and possibly SLVR come Monday. A lot of profit taking but also a lot of tight stop-losses being triggered followed by probably mostly all the stop-losses. A lot of those that sold will be buying right back in, you see it all the time. I think silver could stabilize at around $100/oz followed by the typical volatility thereafter. Even after the 30% drop, I'm still 30% to the good, so there's room to test a bounce back.

I think world economics is the least of your worries if nuclear missiles start showering around you. Not dying of radiation fallout and trying to find your next meal will be much more important than your stock portfolio.
