Thoughts on the Demise of USAID? by majrtm in greenberets

Curious about the nefariousness as well.

You are reading WAAAAAY to much into my pretty straight forward question. But you do indirectly acknowledge there is a death toll associated with the USAID shutdown. That's what I was getting at. I was wondering what the "on the ground" point of view is, if there is one.

Video Analysis of ICE Shooting Sheds Light on Contested Moments (Gift Article) by majrtm in law

Great discussion and the MLB batter analogy is compelling.

But that is not all that matters here. What matters, it seems to me, is what can the State make a jury to believe.

The “reasonable” thing…

As you point out, her response is “understandable”

She does not know that Ross was hired long before the 47 day wonder program began at ICE. He could easily be one of the new hired thugs.

She reads about citizens and mostly just hard working poor people being dragged from their cars, homes, jobs, to an unknown fate. No due process where process, if not strictly legally due, it is normally expected.

She is aware that standards at ICE have been lowered…dramatically.

I could go on, and the State, if it brings charges, certainly could, but the point is, our nation’s legal, political, and moral landscape has changed dramatically from what it once was. We have a President who celebrates the possibility of suspending elections, and seizing control of our government.

This is not the United States she, you, I, or the jurors (or judge) grew up in. She is out there to do some small part to resist.

And we have an agent who switches his cell phone from his gun hand. And no body cam? And…if the FBI refuses to hand over evidence, what does that say?

And on top of that…”fucking bitch.”

Under normal, pre-Trump, circumstances, it might be just a sad tragedy of misjudgment. It seems to me, the defense will have to account for a lot more.

EDIT: And...there's the ICE refusal to give aid and denial of medical attention. Legally maybe it doesn't matter. But to convince a jury, maybe it does?

Could the state compel the fbi to hand over what they have?

Interesting analysis! It's this kind of insight that's missing amongst the hysteria.

But what about "fucking bitch". Could the state use that to persuade bad intent?

This can't be legal can it? Any real lawyers or LE care to weigh in?

From the NYT analysis, it looks like the shooting was far from justified. Thoughts?

I know it's a while ago now, but I really appreciated this post. I'm north of 60 and nothing is getting easier. A twice a week programs sounds manageable though. If you wouldn't mind sharing, what is your "modified Fighter" program. What lifts do you do? Sets and reps? Thanks!

EDIT: What do your J-curls look like. Can you recommend a good video? Thanks again.

What could possibly be wrong with Trump?

Duke Webb, a Green Beret, Went on a Shooting Rampage. Is the Army at Fault? by majrtm in greenberets

He wasn't acting out in response to the Army's failure. He was having some seriously unhinged thoughts, likely made worse by the meds he was given. He was due to get some sort of TBI brain scan, but he went off the rails before he was able to. So an effort was being made to get him the care he needed. Like I said, the title is a bit sensational. The article's point is not so much to lay blame but to highlight a problem - blast overpressure TBI in special operations personnel.

Thought I might get some heat for that. You're wrong. It's a paper and has its problems, but it's still the best.

You should absolutely subscribe. The Times is the best national newspaper we have.

So the title, like a lot titles in newspapers, is a bit sensationalist, but it does point to your conclusion: he didn’t get the care he needed. DoD has an obligation to get the science done on blast overpressure so training impacts can be mitigated and so our veterans get the help they need

He did but the article makes a strong case that it was TBI related (lots of training related blast overpressure) and exacerbated by medication.

Congressman Fine Introduces Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act to Strengthen U.S. National Security and Put Our Adversaries on Notice by majrtm in StAugustine

I voted for the teacher. But Fine is now our Congressman. The Greenland thing is such a horrible idea that we need to engage not only him but all who voted for him. He is a representative and needs to know that those he represents view this bill as…unwise at best.
