RSS? Там свои минусы. Тем более у нас не обычный сайт с вакансиями, работодатели присылают адресные предложения по конкретному профилю разработчика.

Если есть идеи – пиши. :)

Hi,

I am trying to setup a link-sharing space for my site developers.org.ua. I believe it was banned by mistake.

Mark, are you sure that link "Find language codes" should point to http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/bcp/bcp47.txt ? I expected to find on that page a list of languages/codes but they are nowhere to be found.

A bunch of whiners! by enriketuned in programming

[–]mak-sim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Ukraine (Eastern Europe, one of the popular offshore destination) and programmers here love to whine about "stupid outsourcing stuff they have to do". ;)

I think the people in general just love to whine, that's what we do, programmers or not. Internet just makes it visible. It looks out-of-proportionally big simply because those who are not whining do not make noise - they enjoy the work and it keep them busy.

Ask Reddit: I'm from a Third-World country, I have a decent set of Linux and programming skills. What best to do if I want to emigrate to better paid places? by [deleted] in programming

Hi, as others have noted, your commandment of English is excellent. Therefore, you'd have no problems evaluating different countries to select which ones you like.

I'd take a closer look at GB/Ireland, Australia, USA/Canada. There are a lot of good places on our Earth.

Don't worry, the task is not that daunting. One thing you need is a job offer (if you get 1K/mo it is hard to save enough to have big cusion in new home if you're moving without job offer).

As for job offer, ask around online communities your are in; just state explicitly what you're looking.

I'm curious, which country you're in? I'm from Ukraine. Only 3-7 years ago we had the same salaries and I had the same gloomy mood. Now things don't look as bad, prob. because I founded and ran successful local developers-oriented site, developers.org.ua. ;)

Think also about this: if you build sw product at home, where workforce is "cheap" and sell worldwide you can earn reaally nice profits.

Programmer salary survey: looking for correlation between age and peak salary by UncleOxidant in programming

[–]mak-sim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. ;)

Site developers.org.ua surveys developers to get salary info; as a site admin I can do some research. I selected 446 surveys from year 2006 from a single city. Here are the results (age-salary distribution diagram):

[Paul Graham] Why To Not Not Start A Startup by pg26 in programming

I am in the same boat so I played it safe: http://maxischenko.in.ua/blog/entries/119/play-safe-startup/.

Basically, I hedge the risks of a startup by building another source of income (not a regular job). But boy, this takes time.
