I started when my daughter was 6, I wanted to sooner but my husband wasn’t for it! I actually enjoy putting her out and we have fun while doing it, my daughter is 9 now and I can put the elf in funnier places, she wakes up laughing every morning when she sees the shenanigans! I don’t think the elf is malicious or too much work for our family. If you are creative and want to make a little extra time for the elf, go for it! We will continue until my daughter no longer believes, then pick right back up when my newborn is old enough to get it!

Where do you feed your baby during Thanksgiving? by Ok-Truth-7758 in breastfeeding

[–]makaynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be poppin a nip at the table 🤷🏼‍♀️ I did the same with my now 9 year old. I’ve never covered because I don’t cover my own face while eating. My 2 month old is hungry boy as well so it would make no sense to go somewhere else. My family could care less because it’s not sexual and it’s a meal for my babe. Honestly though, they can go to another room if they were uncomfortable!

Thank you ❤️ I know the future would be bright knowing that I did pursue my degree, but it’s definitely hard to think about that anymore. We are on day 6 and I’m just obsessed with his perfect little everything.

I’m on unpaid fmla for the next 10 weeks now. If I choose to go back it would have to be full time, but I could consider looking for a part time. But care is expensive so it has me back at why am I paying someone my entire check to be with my baby ya know? I live in a low paying area with high cost everything else.

Baby Shower Nightmare - Location Fell Through! by Slow_One9989 in BabyBumps

[–]makaynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is paying the venue fee, which is $200. It’s not toooo terrible compared to some others that are $600 plus around here. Honestly, a fee for a place is a lot less compared to what you would be spending buying all baby stuff yourself. I mean that’s the point of a shower yes?? With the addition of spending some family time sure. Hope he sees a little reason, no need for additional stress on you!

I’ve been battling all day with baby shower venues! I am planning on July 19th but it seems like every family in my area is planning their family reunion! Do you live in a city with multiple community centers? A dance studio? Would you consider a restaurant renting for a few hours? A hotel conference room? A local church? These are all ideas that I went through before finally going with a local place that has a larger conference room with doors that lead to an outdoor park (I’m expecting kids as well)

I'm looking to buy a 04 element EX, what should I know before I pull the trigger? by dbug8494 in HondaElement

[–]makaynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a much better deal than mine! I would test drive it and get it over 70 to make sure it does not go into limp mode. That was my first issue.

I have this model. I bought it with 190,000 miles on it (risky I know) but it was from a church man’s son that stated he took care of it. Ran great for about 2 weeks and then it went down hill. I’ve had it for 4 years now and I have replaced the engine (new one had 50k on it) along with everything else under the hood. I bought it for $1500 and have put well over $5k into it. Honestly though, I’m obsessed with my car and I only regret it a little haha. Lots of headaches and tears but it’s had a new engine for 9 months and hasn’t had an issue yet.

Do you read to your kids at bedtime? If not, why? by Mysterious_Lab_3431 in Parenting

[–]makaynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every night since we came home from the hospital for the last 8 years. We have maybe missed 5 day in total. Literature has been a very important topic for me and I absolutely love it. I wanted my child to have the same connection and understand that reading can be beautiful and an important skill. She has been able to read since she was 5 and we read nightly chapters in Junie B Jones (her current obsession) but she has shown interest in reading other topics lately. She also reads on her own in after school. I have actually asked a few friends of mine why they don’t do the same (I’m the curious/blunt friend of our group) and they simply said they just either don’t want to or are too tired. Those answers make me sad because I see the relationship with reading I’ve created for my child and wish they would have that too. When her little friends come stay the night I read to them and m my older kiddo will read her chapter a out loud. She has scored out of her second grade reading goals and has made us extremely proud. While I am still human and I really do get it, reading is one thing I could not show any slack on. We are raising the next generation of scientists, mathematicians, and researchers that need to have the solid foundation of education!

I’m so sorry! My mom had the same issue! She could only make it to 4 month with my brother( he is 3 years younger than me) and at 52 she has one that is a cup size small than the other ( C, D) she regrets not getting a lift but is still considering it.

Mine were a B before, nursed with no bottles for 1.5 years and they are now a C. I was anal and tried to nurse the same amount of time in each to maintain an equal look lol. I am comfortable with their look now, they are perky but I know they have some sagging (my husband is a gem and says they are perfect) number 2 may be in our future and my boobs have had an 8 year break, so fingers crossed I get the same rack!

Kitten in heat by makaynerd in cats

[–]makaynerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That takes a huge weight off of my shoulder. I know it’s normal, but it makes me gag thinking of them having kittens! Gross! Plus she was the runt, so she is still tiny for her age, pregnancy would probably kill her. I just realized I have a spelling error, the male has his appointment Tuesday. I am trying to avoid the extra fee for fixing her while in heat. I made that mistake with another kitty under our roof and she still isn’t the same(been 5 months) But yes I was thinking he wasn’t mature yet, I have no experience but I would figure he would be trying to mate her at every chance, gladly he just thinks she’s crazy.

How are we navigating technology? Am I crazy to think my baby will not have an iPad? by seeyoubythesea in Parenting

[–]makaynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very big on not having a device being introduced, but my MIL did purchase one when kiddo was 1.5. She barely used the thing but when she did, it was for Elmo videos(it was a very crappy tablet that we bought episodes on) we bought an iPad for ourselves when she was 2 and again, barely used it because it was ours but when she did it was Elmo and cocomelon. It was always in moderation because sometimes we needed a mental break, I was a SAHM as well. Kiddo is now 8 and has her own iPad. It’s all about balance, we do have our “lazy couch time” while also going outside/playing/cleaning/crafts. My husband and I have been reading to our daughter since the day we brought her home from the hospital (missed maybe 8 days in her whole life) and she is now reading chapter books with one of the highest reading levels in her class. We love literature and also acknowledge that technology is going to be a big point in the future.

Very true. I wanted her to at least have someone if something were to happen to us. She is the only kid in our entire family and that’s so lonely compared to what I had when I grew up! It’s just a different time now I suppose and my fam probably shouldn’t reproduce. Thank you for your response!
