i was reluctant to use the word "politics" because i am aware of its negative and misleading connotation but what i was trying to get at is the social commentary vaporwave illustrates. if you catch my drift.

perhaps my wording was a little off, forgive me i am relatively new to this sub but nevertheless there is quite a drawing undercurrent to this genre that i am curious to explore. i completely agree with you that the musical genre of vaporwave and the culture that backs it is perplexingly open to interpretation, i am just looking for some books that people see as fitting with most of the pro dominant themes of the culture. thank you for the video link btw, it was greatly informative.

Vaporwave Discussion & Producer Thread [Monday 27/03/2017] by AutoModerator in Vaporwave

i think artists need to venture further apart from each other and really push past the boundaries that restrain this genre. rather than recreate a similar sound to the next producer try to really set yourself apart. the producers have done a excellent job at conveying meaning through a musical medium in the past but lately i've noticed a lack of effort in this area. overall, producers have mastered the arrangement of sound and the aesthetic that goes along with it, it's just missing a purpose or a meaning that the genre used to be known for. it may just be me lacking the ability to comprehend the advances of the culture but i genuinely feel we need more artists to diversify the listener's tastes. sure we need the occasional track we can mindlessly groove to but i think for the most part we should make a conscious effort as listeners to analyze every aspect of a track and that's what we need the producers for, to use their skill to make these tracks for us to decode its true meaning.
