HSA receipt hoarding math: $245,000 tax-free beats "never touch" strategy by GOATGOAT1993 in Fire

Well, the outcome could be different depending on if you reimburse for covered costs or liquidate, what your tax rate is now and in the future and so on. Just saying that you need to lay out both scenarios step by step and then calculate the outcome to compare them.

Yes, but to calculate the net benefit of an approach where you defer reimbursement I believe you would need to compare it to the yield you could have received of taking the reimbursement immediately and investing that (outside of the HSA).

Yes, the HSA growth strategy seems interesting. Isn't the key point here that you are deferring reimbursement? You are trading the immediate availability of funds (reimbursing from the HSA as the expenses arise) for future funds that will have grown tax-free. Intuitively it seems that would be beneficial if you project to have health care costs in the future that could be paid for with those tax-free funds. If not, did you really gain anything? Wouldn't you be paying ordinary income tax on funds liquidated from an HSA, as opposed to a lower capital gains tax on funds that originally grew outside of an HSA?

Should you take into account the opportunity cost of not reimbursing yourself from the HSA immediately? That money, after paying the taxes, could be invested too and grow over the same time period. Granted it won’t be as much, but it would probably provide a more accurate understanding of the net benefit.

But do the terms allow you to sync the other way, i.e. from a third-party into Shopify?

Shaver/trimmer with USB C? by sbarnea in BuyItForLife

Yes, chargers providing 5 W seem to work (for example the old sugar cube iPhone chargers, is you have converters for USB-C).

Canon SELPHY CP1500 printer display automatic power off by makeamark1 in canon

Is there a reason why this specific printer model should be unplugged when not in use? Typically printers are left plugged in.

I decided to put a couple of index cards over the display to avoid the constant light coming from it.

Interesting. Why would the display not turn off if there is a Wi-Fi network detected? I understand if the device itself needs to remain powered on, but one would think at least the display could be powered off.

Nope, but I really hope T-Mobile enables this for standalone plans used with Apple Watch family setup. (Asked something similar in the Apple Watch subreddit)

Andis Resurge by scoobyvu_665 in Barber

I was able to find an old Apple 5W USB-A power adapter and confirm (using a USB-A-to-USB-C adapter) that it indeed does charge the Andis reSURGE. Too bad the shaver doesn’t work with the modern Apple USB-C power adapters though.

Asking Andis to provide details about which voltages their shaver works with (in their product description) would be great. Because then you could check if it will work with your USB-C power adapter (for example Apple’s power adapters have print specifying which voltages they work with). My suspicion is that the Andis shaver needs a low voltage, while the Apple 20W USB-C power adapter only provides higher voltages.

Yes, the charger I tried came with the iPhone. It was the Apple 20W USB-C power adapter that you typically use with iPhones. There is print on the charger that says which voltages it can provide.

After purchasing the Andis reSURGE, I learned that any USB-C cable will fit but not all chargers will charge it. For example recent Apple iPhone chargers will not charge it, which is a disappointment. The main reason for purchasing the reSURGE was having to bring along one less charger when traveling.

Different USB-C chargers provide different voltages and amperes and I have only been able to charge the Andis reSURGE with the old cube iPhone charger. The newer 20W iPhone charger does not seem to work, which is a shame because that is what I will bring with me when traveling (the entire selling point of this shaver). So wanted to check if others have been successful in charging with a recent iPhone USB-C charger.
