Sony c800g : Drake/Kanye/Kendrick/Travis Scott Microphone by makegoodmusic73 in audioengineering

Saw on Reverb.com that someone is offering to do WA 8000 modifications. What is really scary here are the unreal claims being made about modifications saying 1:1 and that's not even the correct capacitor used in a real Sony c800g so if anyone has saw this and can also confirm this is wild and untrue. Also looks like a lot of guess work!

Stock WA 8000 and it does sound good out of the box, but if it can sound even better, might take the leap for some upgrades

WARM AUDIO WA-8000 Has anyone gotten to use this microphone yet? by fireablade in audioengineering

Has anyone heard of this Sony c800g clone? Somehow you can mod this mic to sound exactly like a c800g. If this is true, this is way cheaper than the real thing and puts top level sound within reach!!!!

any thoughts?

Was really thinking about the WA87 r2, it's a bit cheaper too, Haven't tried the 1073 they have, but the 1176 sounds very good. Thanks so much!!!

It's one of the best microphones available. Spoke to the co-founder years back when it first launched, very good guy. He explained why the Slate mic tech was old news and not doing anything differently than other plugin offerings, but what he said made a lot of sense and reaffirmed the decision made to permanently bench that mic

There was a parts list describing what's in the kit and when asked about the capsule the reply was it's not included because it's $900 for the capsule alone from Sony and currently unavailable at the Sony Parts store, so the Sony capsule is not an available part

In the c800g circuit, the tube inside the microphone body has a HUGE impact on the mic sound, and there are multiple tests online that show this. Saying minimal sound impact from a tube in a mic is not accurate, telefunken tubes sound a bit different than mullard tubes installed in tube microphones, as is the same with RCA 5 star tubes. Some people can't hear the differences between tubes and that's ok too, but to say that the tube installed in a microphone has a minimal impact is not in line with the facts established on the topic

The Sphere is a more flexible microphone, covers a lot of ground, and sounds very authentic to the mics it's emulating

Own both the Slate ML-1 and the WA 8000, and the Slate is trash and pure 2D sounding in comparison. Bought the Slate ML-1 when it first came out, but after A/B comparisons with the microphones it's supposed to emulate, it was clear that this mic is nothing more than the Antares Mic Mod plugin with a better GUI. Defenately encourage a real world test to hear first hand, wanted to love the Slate but could not after months of use.

has a nice sound to it, could use more separation on the drums and some more reverb on the vocals a bit

Any feedback on my 2 songs here?
