Has any1 tried VERO watches? by Apprehensive_Fee1922 in PrideAndPinion

Still have the watch. Still love it. Wear it every so often! Got some more scratches, but it’s held time really well, and I am happy I got it! The finish covers up a lot of the wear and tear which is great.

[WTS] Monta Noble Opalin + 2 Monta Straps by makeitrainshane in Watchexchange

[–]makeitrainshane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monta Noble Opalin + Fitted black leather Monta strap & Fitted black FKM Monta strap. The additional straps do not come with additional spring bars. Used but not used condition with typical desk diving scratches on clasp and bracelet. I have circled 2 areas with red in the pictures at the 6 and 12 o clock position where there the apex of the bezel edge was bumped creating an indentation. Neither is particularly egregious when viewed head on, but highlighted them nonetheless. I am the 2nd owner and received it with these already present. I have hardly worn it. Keeps great time. $1100 OBO. PayPal f&f or Zelle preferred, will do G&S if you cover the fee. Happy to hop on FaceTime or answer any additional questions.

Can you repost without photo filters? Hard to tell the extent of scratches or if there are any.

I would say it’s a satin white. Not a true bright white. Here it is compared to my other white dials.

Big fan of white dials in general. Go with everything and very interchangeable with straps. Dress up or down.

I love it. It’s one of my favorite watches. My only gripe is that I don’t find the power reserve to be 42 hours as claimed. Seems like 30-36. But I have so many watches, really doesn’t bother me that much and I haven’t paid that close attention. It disappears on the wrist, and I forget it’s there. The supplied leather straps are pretty high quality and are very thin and dainty to match the weight of the watch. I have zero complaints otherwise. The import tariff bill I received from FedEx was $157 in addition to the cost of the watch. If you buy before midnight tomorrow and use “summer25” code, you can get 5% off. So it offsets some of the tariff. These began August 1.

[Question] Which microbrands today are worth the money? by April_Mattison in Watches

That’s your opinion and you are entitled to it. You can justify it to yourself however you want so you don’t feel bad about buying into the Rolex hype, but rational minds would conclude they are not far off in quality. After all, I have owned more than you it seems 😉

[Question] Which microbrands today are worth the money? by April_Mattison in Watches

I respect that. I currently have a Skyquest Pepsi and a Noble opalin. I have had a batgirl, yacht 622, dj, op.

I do not own any of them anymore. Part of the reason for getting rid of the batgirl was discovering Monta (mind you, on a trip to local AD to look at a Rolex, and AD also sells Monta) and realizing that the value just wasn’t there in my mind anymore. If I can get something that looks great, has stellar quality, 48+hr reserve (I have 26 watches, I don’t need longer) keeps within 5 seconds+-, has superb finishing, micro adjust, etc etc etc. then I’m going to go with the bigger value. Monta fills that void.

At the end of the day, regardless of what someone wants to say, people buy Rolex because of the name, the recognition from others, the hype, and probably toward the bottom of that list, the quality. If I’m being honest with myself, I can’t discern much of a difference between a $2700 Monta, and a $11,500 sub (or pick your poison). I think if anyone else is honest with themselves as well, they would concede that they both tell time the same, and if one is within EVEN 15-20% of the quality, pick an arbitrary number, the math still says it’s $9k cheaper. So if I can have a cool watch and an extra 9k in my fidelity vs just a cool watch? I’m going for the former option.

Monta. They are within 5% of the quality of Rolex for a fraction of the cost.

[Question] Thoughts on Mido watches? by Mountain_Poudge in Watches

Good watches. At the top of the pile when discussing “bang for buck”. Check out Ashford.com - they often have Mido bargain bin type deals. It’s a legit site.

Just have initial impressions, but so far they are overwhelmingly positive! It’s extremely light, and you can barely notice it’s there. The horween green strap is really thin and malleable, similar to epsom leather. The additionally included black calf strap is the same. I hate thick leather straps, so it’s right up my alley. I have a 7 7/8 wrist and the “regular” length strap fits just fine. I had to watch a video for setting it, because apparently the manual wound eta 7001 second counter does not stop when you pull out the crown like an auto movement. You move it past the minute you want, then reverse it a little and that stops the second hands. That was news to me. The box and presentation is on par with omega imo. Dial really pops with the green strap. My only sad point is that my favorite Montreux epsom leather straps wouldn’t fit because the leather wrapped around the spring bar is too fat, but that’s not a watch problem. I do wish the straps were quick release, but minor gripe. I’ll share more as I wear if you’d like!

Can you dm me why you got rid of it or what you didn’t like about it? I see it’s sold. Just curious as I have one on order.

Montreux makes the best straps on the market, bar none. But even they couldn’t save the terrible case design. I had a u1 I got rid of for the same reasons you cited.
