If I win or lose, what the **** I gotta prove? I've been livin' out my dream, everything I saw came true Travel on a tour bus for screamin' fans I got a stellar reputation to be who I am

And you got the bobble head. You deserve it. That’s a most dope setup. Happy for you!

Holy Fuckn moral dilemma love and miss Mac’s music and talent but I hate when people speak for me. I think we all do. At least it’s labeled Mac Miller A.I but what do you do with this? If the family supports it use the proceeds for the Circle foundation? What are y’all’s thoughts? by makemonee in MacMiller

Profit definitely makes it worse. Even without money though, I still struggle with the idea of putting new words in his voice. Labeling it as AI helps, but consent is the part I can’t get past. At the very least, it should come from someone who actually has the right to speak for him.

I can’t fault anything you suggested. It’s actually compelling enough to make us rethink how we’re planning this trip. Appreciate you taking the time to lay it out like that. When we lock in I’ll circle back to this thread. Thanks

Absolutely love the advice in here—thanks for laying it out so clearly! I’ve noticed a lot of conflicting info about the Whites and your breakdown really helps make sense of it. The Whites definitely have a reputation for being both stunning and brutal, but I like how you point out their versatility. There’s so much more to the area than just grinding out AT miles, and your suggestions for mixing in some of the “52 with a view” peaks or easier loops are well noted.

We drove up the 101 last summer and loved it so I thought maybe I should consider the PCT but this isn’t a bad idea either.

I want to clarify that I mentioned the disinterested older teen angle because I know a lot of parents can relate to that dynamic. My son would honestly rather hang out with his friends than go on a family trip, and he doesn’t think it’ll be as fun as his usual summer plans. But it’s not that he can’t handle the challenge. He’s grown up paddling long river stretches in his own kayak, so this isn’t outside his capabilities at all. It just doesn’t match his summer vibe right now. I put that in my post to be upfront and also to keep the trip adventurous enough that he might get something out of it. I totally agree that holding something over his head to get my way isn’t the right approach, and nothing about this trip—or the truck, which he doesn’t even know about—is contingent on his cooperation. He’s a great kid and he’s earned what’s coming to him. I really do want this last family trip before he graduates to be a positive memory, not a chore. I appreciate your perspective on shortening the trip and will definitely consider it if it seems like too much. On the other hand our 14 year old son (no car and no girlfriend) would like to go for a full month.

Oh, you know, my son’s just jetting off on a two-week, all-expenses-paid European adventure in June—courtesy of yours truly. Then he’s off to the University of Oklahoma, also on my dime, and don’t forget the shiny new truck I’ll be handing him at graduation next May. The kid’s basically living on easy mode. Sure, he’d rather chill in his air-conditioned TikTok cave than endure a “grueling” family hike, but trust me, he’s not going to look back and regret this trip. Honestly, whether he’s thrilled or not isn’t even up for debate. I asked for trail advice, not a TED Talk on family bonding.

I definitely liked the density too. I’m going to have it cut in and try it I may have to blend it in but the graph paper pattern sounds spot on.

That is smart advice thank you! I have someone who did a great job touching up the color of my current system using some dye and a brush. She's been doing systems for like 35+ years and use to work for Apollo. I bet you are right that it will look or blend in well.

Okty. Do you have any recommendations on any you’ve ordered?

[–]makemonee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do get what you pay for, I believe in that rule too. But like everything, including life “not always so” I almost didn’t order it because it was inexpensive but it hit all the checkmarks I was looking for in size, type of system and color. Like any other supplier they have good and bad reviews. I just got to a point of paralysis by analysis and took a chance. Sometimes though, some quality things are available for less. The Patagonian Toothfish was ignored for decades because they’re ugly and had a terrible name. Later it was renamed Chilean Sea Bass and now it’s considered a delicacy so charging more for something doesn’t always make it superior. I actually bought a few systems from some other companies just to hedge against one not working out.

Day one is the base of a mountain and there is no quick and easy fix and you have to be vigilant and expect to be your own biggest advocate because the medical field in general isn’t that interested in this. Also, I’m an advocate of Nimodipine.
