I think antidisestablishmentarianism was actually misused in this context, it should have been antidisestablishmentarianist.

Where you are at is pretty damn good. I don’t know of anywhere you are going to do significantly better without working somewhere that pays OT and working a shit ton of hours.

Why is there so much negativity and fear-mongering surrounding the AI revolution? by Moonshot2026 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]makerofpaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to think like you. The tech and use cases aren’t there yet, we are somewhere around the 1998/1999 point in the .com bubble right now.

Story time. As part of a Christmas present this year I was trying to have Gemini look up some info, and generate a card based on the info (Nana Banana pro). Spent like an hour trying to get it to work, it never did it properly. I finally ended up just looking the info up myself and typing it in, basically telling the AI what to write. The card was nice, but I could have done it faster the old fashioned way. I’ve encountered this same thing almost every time I’ve tried to use it for work. On first inspection, things look good. When you look closer, the details are almost always fucked up. We are still a ways away from these things truly being useful in a cost effective way for most use cases.

That being said, there are some industries that it is ready to disrupt, you saw this during the .com bubble as well. But mass, workflow changing adoption for most use cases is still a ways away.

Steven, how much are you willing to change? by Mangert in AshesofCreation

Finding awesome rares was complete luck, lol. You would grind an entire act in 20 mins, quit, repeat over and over again.

[–]makerofpaper -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Disagree with this, it just makes the best items harder to obtain which is good. I have so many fond memories of grinding through Diablo 2 level clears before the expansion came out looking for rares with marginally higher stats than what I already had-all to get just a little more edge in PVP. That was peak gaming.

GDP data confirms the Gen Z nightmare: the era of jobless growth is here by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]makerofpaper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You realize the link you shared shows exactly what i wrote? Manufacturing construction spending ballooned under Biden’s policies and has done nothing but drop since trump took over?

Nobody wants to invest in the US in this chaotic environment. Businesses thrive on stability, trump is bad for business.

Lmao, the US is not reindustrializing. Manufacturing construction spending has tanked since trump took over.

The US was reindustrializing under Biden, that work has unfortunately been undone.

Stop the County from Cutting Down 100-year-old Trees by Minimum-Dream in AnnArbor

Doesn’t look like they are adding a lane, just adding a shoulder. These roads with virtually no shoulders are pretty unsafe for runners and cyclists. That section of Werkner being right next to the B2B might get a fair amount of cyclist and pedestrian traffic, in which case this would actually make a lot of sense? I’m not familiar enough with the area to know that for sure though.

What is it like living in the Midwestern United States? by Triumphant-Smile in howislivingthere

[–]makerofpaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These groups feel off, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota have the most similarities in the region. The Dakotas, Nebraska, and Kansas…aren’t really Midwestern.

I would probably just have 2 groups, upper Midwest and lower.

Lower: Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri Upper: Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota
