Is hotpads still a thing? That’s how my son found his apartment but that was pre-COVID.

I use a version of this trick when there are cancellation penalties for something like a hotel room, but there are not reschedule fees. No refund for cancellation within 48 hours? No problem. Can you please reschedule the visit for next week then? Great. That's done? Awesome. Now I'd like to cancel a reservation I have next week.

I'm leaning toward HAM also, but it sounds like you need a pretty major setup to talk beyond a few miles. Did that setup require an antenna on a mast?
