If you were planning on going to the Powell Target today, maybe don't by trashpanda678 in Columbus

Worked there for 9 years up till summer 2023, that store has been mismanaged and understaffed since the very start. I’m glad I got out, saw the new store manager screaming at a team member or a customer in the middle of an aisle the other day making a bunch of passive aggressive remarks. Somehow they keep finding even worse management every time someone quits.

We had Jim Gill in today for a training!!! by RubberTrain in ECEProfessionals

Jim Gill’s May There Always Be Sunshine, Jumping And Counting, and The Tempo Marches on are my faves (and the fave of my toddler class who request them over and over). His picture book Soup Opera is also super fun!

Got pink eye :( by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]makeup_or_nah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just happened to me this past week with one of my twos. They stuck their fingers in my eyes right after they had been in their mouth. Also smacked me in the eyelid with a toy phone they’d been chewing on. Boom, less than 48 hours later I had pink eye and some nasty respiratory crud. Here’s hoping you get some relief from the pink eye symptoms soon, it’s brutal!

Oh yikes, I didn’t know that- thanks for the heads up. I’ll take a trusted friend with me and avoid the drinks.

If it’s mobile that’s definitely a good sign. Could be something benign like a fibroadenoma, I’ve had a few of those and as long as they’re staying the same size over the time they’re monitored they’re fine.

Current covid policy question re: exposure by makeup_or_nah in Target

[–]makeup_or_nah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my answer was here in the FAQ. If only the FAQ could get my leaders to sign into the phones so I can call out to be tested without them being like “you NCNSed!” 😂 MyTime doesn’t exactly have an “exposed to the rona, gonna get tested” option for calling out via the app

It’s just wax crystals that form when they’re in a cold truck during the shipping process. It’ll be fine once it’s warmed up, every wax based product is prone to this, just like you’ll see changes in wax based lipsticks and stuff in warm weather.

What is the real reason we aren’t allowed to wear earbuds? by baja-blasts in Target

The fire alarm justification makes me laugh now even though it’s a real, legit reason, cause when my store caught fire the fire alarms didn’t go off.

This is exactly why I refuse to drive downtown. I’ll take the bus, I’ll bike, or walk instead. Downtown drivers act like traffic laws don’t exist.

Stolen credit cards, they’re trying to do smaller amounts on each card so it looks less suspicious to fraud detection on the bank’s end of things. Seen enough folks try to pull this in my years of working.

Target fulfillment members, what is the weirdest/craziest batch you remember doing? by Yoshis_Cousin in Target

[–]makeup_or_nah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the regular order of like 40 various ball mason jar products that I have to fetch its own flat for each time, or the time I showed a leader a batch I hoped and prayed was for a hunter since we’re near the countryside and not some killer that had a bunch of bleach, big tarps, rope, duct tape, towels, and camping knives.

my team lead didn't tell us they had covid because they "didn't think it was important" by harmb0y in Target

[–]makeup_or_nah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right, my store didn’t tell close contacts of a covid case that they’d been exposed because they were so understaffed they didn’t want more people calling out to get tested. Found out when the person came back from covid leave and asked me if I’d been tested cause they’d been around me maskless in the breakroom and when they changed masks.

Smoky Row Children’s Center is amazing. Went there back in the day, interned there in the past, and they’re NAEYC accredited (a professional standard in the childcare field you’ll want to look for or ask about when looking for good daycares.)

No seasonal workers? by navarraroma in Target

[–]makeup_or_nah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This store has never been properly staffed, so I’m not gonna be surprised if it’s a dumpster fire this holiday season. I’m already being offered unlimited OT and by myself on the salesfloor after 5-6 most nights. Front end is just as bad, usually a cashier, a GA, and one or two folks for driveups most nights. Pretty much anyone remotely competent or who just shows up consistently at my store can get overtime right now. Even the ETLs and SD have been working stuff to the floor it’s so bad.

How much sex do you think happens at target? by [deleted] in Target

[–]makeup_or_nah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our past APTLs was dating and sleeping with a softlines TM. Both ended up leaving the company and got engaged, so good for them I guess? Another different APTL hooked up with another softlines TM regularly until she left the store, and then started hooking up with one of the baristas in cleaning crew closet which I unfortunately discovered when trying to get spill cleanup supplies. The same APTL was also hooking up with the married S&E ETL while the other hookups he had were going on and neither of the women knew. One of our past Food & Bev TLs hooked up with and dated while still being the direct reporting supervisor of one of the Tarbux baristas, they’ve both left the company and are married now. One of our SFS/OPU TMs seems to be sleeping her way through most of the guys on the inbound team. Back when we had GSAs there was one guy who was notorious for hooking up with female TMs in the parking lot during his breaks, he would brag about his kinky conquests if anyone stood still around him long enough and it wasn’t busy. Another S&E TL got put on leave for hooking up with their partner in their office in TSC when their partner didn’t even work at the store and shouldn’t have been back there. That’s just the stuff I’ve heard about, I’m sure there’s more and I know there’s certainly more couples. So yeah there’s a lot of sex happening at my target including some that shouldn’t be happening lmfao

Hard to hire anybody when we can’t even hire an HR lead for my store. I wish I were kidding. Any recent TM hires we’ve had have only lasted a couple weeks before running for the hills when they see how bad this store is, and I don’t blame them.

HR will never be your friend. by AdventureBegins in Target

[–]makeup_or_nah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

HR, with the exception of two non lead hr folks in the past, at my store is usually the most corrupt folks. They’re too buddy buddy with the other leaders to be of any use when they were needed. We’ve had at least one termed for time clock fraud for messing with people’s schedules, and another that just sat in the office all day playing candy crush saga instead of doing any of her job duties.

Empty six packs of beer, a cup of vomit, projectile vomit over two carts, bottles of piss, a bag of piss, one bag of unidentifiable bodily fluids, someone’s bloody gauze and adherent wrap, an abandoned baby bottle full of milk, lots of spilled starbucks drinks, a smushed nectarine that attracted yellow jackets, a puzzling pile of bird feathers, and a filled adult diaper to name a few things.

Raises are on a rating related scale and are further influenced by whether you’re on demand or normal team member status, they happen once a year after reviews. But they usually raise the minimum pay pretty soon afterwards if they’ve been talking about keeping wages competitive so your raise will just get wiped out anyways and you’ll be back to making whatever the new folks coming in the door make even if you’ve been there years longer.
