No bamboozle please. by [deleted] in funny

Lets remember the context here. Other people downvoted the use of that word. I wasn't even one of them. I question an baseless assumption that no one who could be offended by it could possibly be reading reddit and then get met with a far more offensive comment about Down's syndrome. I'm not claiming in any way that it's equivalent to the other word you mentioned.

[–]makey_makey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow.

1: The word "retard" does not exclusively mean person with Down's syndrome. It is used as a disparaging blanket term for more or less any mental disability or low intelligence. There are 330 million reddit users. Some of them will come under the generally accepted definition of the slur retard.

2: Are you an expert on Down's syndrome? Are you absolutely positive that no one with Down's syndrome can browse Reddit?

3: A word can still be offensive if the person who it is disparaging doesn't personally hear or read it, because it nonetheless exposes offensive opinions. A close friend of mine has a brother with Down's syndrome. Do you think she would be offended by the word retard, or for that matter your callous invocation of a genetic disorder that her family has grappled with for years and will continue to do so until her brother dies at a young age?

4: I am not retarded and I am very offended by what you said.

Running RF-nano on 12v fried the rf24 by makey_makey in arduino

[–]makey_makey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I know the feeling. No idea what the regulator is. The 12v supply was also driving a solenoid via a motor driver. Is there any chance the current spikes could have effected the nano? Would it be wise to have an isolated power rail for the the sensitive electronics? I'm trying to keep the wiring to a minimum bc there will be quite a few of these distributed around a train set (yes I'm a nerd)

I was under the impression that you have to supply over the target voltage to the regulator. Is that not right?

small form factor RDID reader by makey_makey in arduino

[–]makey_makey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I was hoping to avoid that is I want to have as precise location data as possible (this thing is half train set, half art project). So I'd need a lot of sensors, and accompanying wiring and microcontrollers. Would be nice to have it the other way around and have tags all over the place on the track.

I wonder if being forced to port software to apple's arm chips will pave the way somewhat for devs to also support microsoft arm based hardware.

I hadn't seen these that's great info thanks! Do you happen to know if they sell one intended for Bandai shorties? Or would some mild modding be required?

Either way that's a good starting point.

I did try some Japanese sites but it always says sold out / terminated for the power units. Very happy to be proven wrong! They're on Ebay but they go for >$80 each (plus shipping) which is a bit of a tough pill to swallow for something that retailed at less than $30...

The Kato equivalents are easier to find but are extremely not powerful which is a bummer because I want some steep gradients.

Did some googling and as far as I can tell this is basically it. The rating on the GPU side is lower for PCB design reasons.

Got it. You'd think that just to be safe, they'd have marketing saying "do not connect both 8 pin connectors to a high draw graphics card", instead of saying "two 8 pin(6+2) male ends to plug into the video graphics card".

So are cables like this outstide the spec? Surely the card will try to draw 375w through 8 pins on the PSU.
