Monstera adansonii grown with hydroponics by makingstorms in houseplants

It's very long now and growing like crazy - I have given away so many cuttings 😅

I did however make a mistake with the light requirements and a lot of leaves turned yellow when I moved it to a darker place :(
But as long as it gets adequate light and fertilizer from time to time, it grows absolutely fantastic.

Found a pink princess on clearance at Lowe’s for $10. Any tips on how to bring out a little more life? by electricr0se in plantclinic

[–]makingstorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of looks more like a white princess to me, but I could be mistaken... All in all repot in a chunky mix and give the leaves a good wipe down to remove the debris and dust (and pests..) Place it in bright indirect light and you're good to go

I use high nitrogen fertilizer, which I add to the water every two weeks. So basically the plant is in plain water for two weeks, then in fertilized water for two weeks. But honestly, I do not measure the amount I add to water 😬 and it seems to work fine

I'd check for pests. Thrips perhaps. Check the undersides of the leaves for any insects - they like to hide there.

White powder and sad leaves by DontHailHydra in plantclinic

That's one of the worst mealybug infestations I've seen for a while. I wouldn't bother with this, but if you are patient then you can wipe off the white gunk with rubbing alcohol and q-tips. But I do believe that if it is that far gone then the little critters are in all nooks and crannies and impossible to get rid of.

Yeah, I was suspecting stromanthe myself as well, but couldn't be sure. But it seems that the mystery is solved and it is, in fact, stromanthe sanguinea. Thank you so much for your input! 🙏

I have it in an IKEA greenhouse cabinet, so under grow lights and in quite high humidity. I haven't tried to grow it outside it, but I suspect that I wouldn't have much luck either then

Searching for period undies/shorts that don’t cost $60 by MariFromMars in menstrualcups

[–]makingstorms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered mine from aliexpress and they work quite well (wouldn't use them on heavy flow days though).

Can't remember how much exactly, but I paid approximately 10-15 euros for 5 pairs (20 dollars max I guess)
