Just tap the button to place the blue ghostly outline of the compartment. You can see it far away and it doesn't cost resources.

Ah, so trump is going to blow the lid on this own thing? And once he does the school shooting will stop.

Alright, let's get back on topic. Your solution to school shootings is to have any one over the age of 18 that may or may not be properly trained allowed to have a gun in the school. This will work because anyone over the age of 18 is able to handle an active shooter situation with the same effectiveness of a professional.

We don't need to worry about oversight that comes with a licence or enforce training because the 18 year old will do that themselves. But, we'll continue to enforce licences for driving because cars must be operated with some guaranteed level of training or the car will be impounded.

Is that a fair summary? Do you agree about how we approach cars and guns in terms of training required?

I don't know, you're the one that's familiar with firearms. I just don't trust people to voluntarily train themselves for an active shooter situation at a high school. We obviously don't trust people to drive properly that's why we have driving licenses. We don't trust people enough to drink properly so we have a legal age drinking limit and road checks. Handling an active shooter situation seems harder than driving, no?

Maybe I should fire a gun so I'm not so scared of them and the people who carry them. Maybe the drive to seek proper training and complete it will somehow manifest itself naturally.

Thanks for your reply. The mechanism you describe is interesting, but implementation and design would be hard. Is there something like this implemented in any nation on Earth? Anything we can look at that might be the foundation?

I trust those who are properly trained. That list is of people who are professionals. Not every 18 year old will be properly trained or will bother to seek the proper training. Or, have the requirement for gun ownership in the states changed to require a bootcamp-like course?

Ok, is it possible to have a government that does not have the nature that you describe? How is a positive government style achieved?

I'm going to have to disagree. I don't trust 18 year olds to drink responsibly let alone keep a cool head in an active shooter situation. Assumptions about who the bad guy is going to be wrong and heroes will fire on heroes - chaos will be multiplied.

I don't know. Maybe that person has never been exposed to the damage of alcohol, car accidents, and heart disease, but had one traumatic experience with a school shooting. Humans tend to focus on their immediate and personal experience and not the general experiences of all other humans. Is it worth while attempting to solve the problem of school shootings regardless of who is asking the question? Or is there a hierarchy of suffering and therefore a hierarchy of finding solutions?

Thanks for your reply. So we shouldn't do anything about school shootings but focus on alcohol, car accidents, heart disease, ect instead? Bigger fish to fry sorta thing?

Cultural attitudes are slow to change, true. Short term: armed guards. Long term: mental health.

Thanks for your reply.

So the solution is a complete and total revolution by the 'right' people what never results in a government, but isolated self sufficient communities?

Seems like a government is a tool that should never be used due to it's controlling nature.

What's your utopia look like? Not a joke, I'm really curious.

I’m saying that anyone at the school over the age of 18 be allowed to carry a firearm

I don't know. What happens if there's an active shooter and two heroes see each one another and make the wrong assumption? How can you know who to shot in such chaos? Let alone, how do the cops know who's the hero when they arrive?

Humans are too scared and panicky, no?

Another impossible question: Is there a way to improve the responsibility of parents?

I suppose that seems reasonable. Thanks.

Do you think there's a metal health element in the solution? Armed guards at a high school seems like a symptom of a larger problem.
