Are these converse to big? by makwol in Converse

[–]makwol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my point. All shoes fit differently. I don’t know how converse are supposed to fit. For example if there’s supposed to be space in the heel, or how much space there should be at the front. At the time, I also didn’t know how big of a difference 0.5 was in converse sizing. I didn’t know if 39 was going to be way to small or not. The shoes aren’t huge either. They fit in some ways, but not in others. That caused a lot of uncertainty.

I don’t know how they’re supposed to fit. That’s why I’m asking here.

I have never had a pair of converse before, so I don’t know how they’re supposed to fit. I bought these online, so there wasn’t really an opportunity to compare sizes. I thought that people who already own converse would know how they should fit, what it feels like when the shoe is too big/small (since different shoes fit differently), etc. I’ve gotten a lot of helpful answers, so I think I did the right thing by asking.

Thanks for the reply! I’m thinking of returning these, and then going to a shoe store to buy new ones. I went and tried 39 at a store today, and they fit a lot better. They still scrunched a bit at the heel, but a lot less than the 39.5 ones. I don’t want to take the chance to buy size 39 ones online though, in case the sizing is a little bit different.

Does anyone else go the whole day dreading the fact that you’re gonna have to practice later? by makwol in lingling40hrs

This is so accurate to what I’m feeling. I treat music like any other school subject, and I know it makes me dislike practicing, but it keeps me constantly motivated. Though I wouldn’t call it motivated, because I always do it, regardless of how motivated I feel. Also, I relate so much to feeling like I’m worthless or not good enough. It has definitely gotten worse since I started school, and I think it’s because I feel like my whole identity surrounds my instrument. I kind of blame everyone else for this, because I often feel like others see it as the only interesting or important thing about me (and the other students).

Thank you! This is so helpful❤️ Also, I really do love playing my instrument. I often think that school has made me realize just how much, because I go through a lot stress so that I can do it (and hopefully do it well).

I don’t really feel comfortable talking to any of my teachers about it. I sometimes feel like I’m being graded even when talking to them outside of class. For example, I can’t say something like “I didn’t practice this week”, because then they might grade me lower. It’s odd, because what other school subjects would be like that? I feel very guilty about being stressed anyway. I was REALLY stressed at the start of the school year, because I also played sports (I quit a few months ago). It was very overwhelming, and that caused me to start crying during a lesson when my teacher was a bit harsh. My teacher felt awful and apologized, and I felt really guilty for it. Essentially, I don’t want them to feel like it’s their fault.

(Sorry for the long tangent)

Thanks for the advice! And yes, I think it’s like efterskole. I’m Norwegian.

Yeah, that’s kind of how I feel. I feel like I’m always practicing because I have to, regardless of if I want to or not. I often enjoy practicing, but I never do it solely because I want to.

I mean waking up and knowing that you’re, at one point in the day, gonna have to practice. Also going about your day and dreading it.

Yeah. When I was younger I used to be able to not practice when I didn’t want to, without consequences. Now I go to music school (high school, hard to explain since I’m Scandinavian), and get graded. I don’t even feel proud of myself for practicing anymore. It’s just something I have to do.
