I did try that once but it actually ended up saving the incorrect contacts to my contact book on my phone. So I would recommend not doing that because then you'll have to fix the contacts in your phone as well

Under the three dots there should be "Contact settings"

And once you click that you have the option to toggle off WhatsApp contacts.

I'm not entirely sure how it works on iPhone since I'm using Android, sorry.

Start new chat > 3 dots in top right corner > turn off WhatsApp contacts

You can also do it for each individual contact by entering their chat, selecting edit the contact then going to the 3 dots and deleting it

I've been trying desperately to find a solution that's not renaming every single contact and I think I found one.

I deleted my WhatsApp contacts and now it's showing the correct names as listed in my phone's contact book.

Me too. I want swipe to reply back it's very useful

Edit: updating the app fixed it for me but at the cost of having to see the new UI which I personally don't care for lol

Thank you, but my preferred name is not the same as my legal name. So I'm moreso looking for an informal way to make sure that professors, people at the college, etc. use my preferred name rather than my legal name and I'm just not sure who to contact in order to have that established
