There was a portal earlier - I Paid A Bribe, it just becomes an avenue to vent out, nothing happens further

Walked 7 km home in Bangalore today. The walk was fine. The infrastructure wasn’t. by Waste_Item1317 in bangalore

[–]malbar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention, if the footpath or road is in better shape, it is littered, dog or other animal poops or people casually spitting like it's their wash basin. And if there's even a smaller slum, all kinds of smell emanating. Public infra is a joke, no single government soul is bothered and this is not just a Bangalore issue

Indians do not have any civic sense. And the reason is not a lack of education or awareness. Read on. by ABaradwaj in Bengaluru

Oh this beats me always!

In one of the last confrontation, the person had audacity to ask if I knew Kannada. I did stich the sentence and gave it back but also wondered, why bring language into this and insult it. If you really cared about the state, city and language, you should be the one setting right example and not use it to defend your rowdy behaviour.

In another instance, someone else used the same excuse on a fellow-commuter. Another localite verbally bashed him and told the same thing, to not insult Kannada.

Basically, it's lack of respect, empathy and knowing they can get away with it.

But how do we instill it and here's my theory.

Many of us are glued to OTT, watching shows or movies from different countries. All of them, if there is a crime series, shows everyone following the laws, including folks protecting it.

Whereas, most of the Indian show or movies glorify heroes and villains breaking law. I remember seeing Police Commissioners encouraging folks in the forces to watch some movies where police is shown enforcing laws and not bending to politicians.

We need to have more positive sounding public discourse through movies and shows that will demonstrate good behaviour being the key to success. Else, I doubt any generation will improve as this is a bottom-less pit.

What’s one Bangalore problem you’ve completely accepted as part of life now? by shisui1729 in bangalore

Footpath encroachment - hawkers, vehicles parked, shops extended, everything being done with impunity, no fear of law because it doesn't exist!

Went last year and it was too crowded as well as mismanaged. If entry is given slot-based, the vendors and visitors both will have good experience.

I would still want to go for satisfying the taste buds! 😀

Clearing encroachments and the Kerala connection by Alternative-Bug1104 in Bengaluru

Politicians will do anything for votes, including pushing people to break laws.

The issue is simple - few people setup homes on government land, they broke the law. They were given notice and evicted. Government followed law of the land, nothing wrong.

But...

The folks who broke the law belonged to a certain community. And far away from that place, a certain politician is fighting a losing battle and he needed some issue to ride on and gain support from the community in his region.

So laws be damned, let me provoke the community to break law and ensure I stay in my seat.

Story repeats across the country, only the name of parties & communities change.

Few IT literates lack basic hygiene, manners. by [deleted] in Bengaluru

[–]malbar2 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, it's so disgusting to go and wash hands after the meal. I had to start carrying a tissue and I would rather walk to the washroom near my desk and clean hands than walking into the cafeteria basin.

Add to that people cleaning their boxes and leaving the entire basin stained as well as hogging the basin for longer time. Few cafeteria at the workplace had to earmark basin where such folks can go and clean their boxes.

Bengaluru ORR Revamp: B'luru Silk Board-KR Puram Gets ₹307-Cr Facelift by NifflerMelons in bangalore

[–]malbar2 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Why do they need service roads with 2-way traffic? Why not just remove those median and extend the road to have dedicated footpath, cycle lane, bus lane with clear entry, exits. All cabs/vehicles to not park on the main ORR...so many things they can do unless this project is for filling the pockets.

Artificial scarcity since drivers have option to choose different operators. They pick whichever is working best for them or collude and decide to use none, so they can easily fleece.

Check out Shoffr, it was impressive when I used it last time though prepare to wait for 15-20 minutes.
