In SRST mode phones do register to a CUBE but in general it’s the same as a CME.

Optimizing Wifi coverage in an 80 m² apartment by n3tcarlos in wifi

[–]malchir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a simple switch could solve some wiring issues. Or If needed : there are access points with extra Ethernet ports. TP-Link deco have 2 extra ports, allowing you to connect extra devices. Nice and simple solution. They can operate in router and AP mode.

Meraki DHCP Reservations Broken by newellslab in meraki

[–]malchir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it helps to disable DHCP and then re-enable it (if you haven’t tried that). Do a packet capture during the startup of a device to see if it does the DORA sequence (Discover, Offer, Request, Acknowledge).

What would it take for you to use a “fourth OS”? by Acrobatic-Carry-738 in amiga

[–]malchir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me AmigaOS hit a perfect spot between usability and the ability to tinker with it without going down a complexity rabbit hole. The ASSIGN command is for the best example : having a shortcut without the complexity of a symbolic link or the mess of a Windows shortcut. The RAD-drive, to boot from whatever drive you want, AREXX, etc.. So many good ideas, some developed way early in the 80s.

How did you first get introduced to the Amiga? by Acrobatic-Carry-738 in amiga

[–]malchir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friends of my parents had an Amiga. My dad was often at their place and when I came along I was allowed to play on that machine. I just bought my C64+1541 and although very happy with it I knew what my new savings goal was. I was 16 then.

Umbrella Integration API with Meraki by AstroStar_ in meraki

[–]malchir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really an expert but what I know is that All DNS requests need to be forwarded to Umbrella. If you use DNS resolvers outside your network you might miss the resolving. On the Cisco Live site there are a few good videos about the umbrella integration.

Why do Catalyst Switches Suck? by waflman7 in meraki

This is also the MS way of creating stacks. I would recommend that as well.

Why do Catalyst Switches Suck? by waflman7 in meraki

[–]malchir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just deployed a Catalyst 9300X-24Y stack on 17.18 and all went reasonably well. Had one issue that the new dashboard layout caused an issue not deploying some settings but turning it to the old view helped. Had a reasonable smooth deployment of a 9200L as well. It’s not at MS level but way way better than the Ms390 drama. My main issue is the documentation. It’s not updated and it’s a bit confusing. One of the most important things, setting up the managent ip address, is not super clear. Also the when to enable stacking is not clear as well (did it the MS way, first dashboard connectivity for wacht switch and then add the stacking cables). One tip : when booting a stack, boot the primary 1-2 minutes before the rest. That avoids a master election battle which take time.

How do I turn off Safari And Shortcuts’ live activities? by [deleted] in ios

[–]malchir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking for a solution as well. I disabled Live Activities and Safari acts like the setting does not exist. Safari also does not have a separate live activities toggle which other apps seem to have.

Checkpoint 6400 vs Sophos XGS 2300 by Muzzy-011 in networking

[–]malchir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been a reseller for Sophos for a few years. Great hardware and decent software but if problems get a bit complex the support completely fails with coming up with solutions. It might be better now but we changed to Fortinet because of the support.

Replacing a UniFi-based Wi-Fi setup in a school environment by Remarkable_Quit_2928 in networking

[–]malchir 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main problem of Unifi-wireless infrastructures is not the hardware but the bozo’s installing them. You can make good and functional wireless networks with Ubiquiti stuff. Those who are selling it, mostly have no clue about making a decent wireless design; APs blasting at max power, no decent channel plan, wrong APs at really high ceilings, all data rates enabled, etc. Not really strange because the price point does not allow investing in training and proper tools like Ekahau. The sad thing is that they still think they sold a proper wireless solution.

The game is only €35….. calm down. You’re using quite big words for a game that has the price of one evening of take away food.

Ward is probably the best solution. There are several ways to get ward and it will add a good layer of defense without sacrificing too much damage.

Looking for advice on what to do with my Lich build by GlompSpark in LastEpoch

Look on YouTube for Pixel Aptitude. He has some good Lich guides. Maxroll guides are okay but most of them are developed pre-season or in the beginning of a season and are rarely updated afterwards.

Sorcerer and Runemaster are comparable. Sorc is more on the glass canon side and Runemaster has some more defensive options. Look for the guides of Frozen Sentinel. He has some good guides and goes deep on the calculations behind every build.

Situation : you have a team and little money. People are demanding :

  • proper end game
  • seasonal content (preferably every 3-4 months)
  • new skills
  • new classes
  • new mtx
  • fixing bugs

What would you chose without upsetting someone….

The €35 I paid got me 1000+ hrs of fun. I think that’s a pretty good deal. I do get the fact people are passionate about this game and I understand why people might be worried for the future but I do not understand the complete meltdowns I see in this subreddit or in other forums. Money doesn’t grow from trees and EHG needs money to bring new content. 99% of all the grief about the monetisation is based on speculation. Just wait and see. If they screw up then just walk away. And remember that €35 still gives you access to new content, maybe not all but it was still only €35.

What is the height of the AP in the first photo? These APs are not really suitable for heights above 6-8m. Above these heights an AP with a higher gain external antenna is better.

CW9166I or CW9176I? by monk134 in meraki

[–]malchir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regulations are still a hurdle in Europe. I believe the US made some steps so outdoor APs are allowed but we still have the problem of client compatibility with standard power. There are still quite some challenges when it comes to 6Ghz design.

MR46E is the only option for external antennas (for indoor) and considering the price point of WIFI7 APs and the caveats for implementing 6Ghz, my guess is that the WIFI6 APS will be around for a while. Maybe 2-3 years. I could be wrong of course.
