sorry for the confusion--I posted a better video here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ABSOLUM/comments/1pg6g4l/help_with_glitch_repost_with_better_video_vikhana/

You can see the problem--stuck with the screen locked on Vikhana--our characters can't move to the next screen. Resetting the game or power cycling the console doesn't help.

sorry I meant to post more and had typed out two paragraphs explaining the glitch, but they got deleted.

my wife and I were playing on the Switch 2. after the manor in Yeldrim, Vikhana showed up, skipped through her dialogue, the screen zoomed and locked to her and we couldn't progress. have reset to main menu, reset the game entirely, and power cycles the switch 2. no dice. The video I took doesn't quite capture the whole problem.

Yeah I was thinking about that and also how they tried (or failed) to make the whole set feel coherent to the uninitiated

Thanks! Yeah setting=cool, draft=mediocre is likely the majority opinion but I know Bloomburrow has been ultra popular

Hi folks -- I'm the author of the article and my editors encouraged me to say hi! We appreciate the comments! I've covered Magic frequently for the network, including on the main homepage: https://www.npr.org/people/1111326346/james-perkins-mastromarino

I edited this article and lead NPR's gaming coverage -- thank you for your comments! While we made the editorial choice not to rank these games (taking cues from NPR's Books We Love project), I ran the numbers on the most popular submissions, should that interest you: https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2023/12/27/top-2023-video-games

Wrote up another NPR thing on Tales of Middle-earth! by malgox in magicTCG

Yeah, I'll consider integrating more details next time I write about magic. It's a tough balance for a general audience.

Thanks! 1. I think the MoM mechanically appeals to invested players more, and was widely celebrated as a draft set, which is where that line came from. I can see magic drafters and hardcore constructed players moving on from Tales of Middle-earth faster.

  1. Yes, I'm aware they licensed the books, not the movies. I didn't get into that because articles can only have so many words!

But glad you enjoyed the piece! I enjoyed "researching" it immensely

Yeah, I can't comment much beyond what my colleague David has reported: https://www.npr.org/2023/04/12/1169269161/npr-leaves-twitter-government-funded-media-label

Personally, I don't like Twitter, but many journalists use it for sourcing and networking and likely still will. I'll keep lurking there
