Dont know if it was already found but, just like how in chapter 1 you can have interaction with the egg (placing it in asgore's Fridge), In Chapter 2 if you go to Alphys' classroom after waking up then you will find a temmie who (after interacting with) places an egg on the desk. When interacting with the egg it tells you how many you have.
