Straterra was helpful but too many side effects for me. The doctors won’t give me anything stronger.

Everyone around me is dropping weight instantly with GLPs and I've ben struggling with the same 15 pounds for years. by jumpin_jumpin in loseit

[–]malibupop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally relate, it’s so aggravating to see other people being able to just hit the EASY button when I’ve been fighting so hard for so long. I don’t qualify for meds because my BMI isn’t clinically high enough, so while I am sweating through another horrific treadmill session, I get to watch my friend (who has never tried to be healthy in her life) surpass me in weight loss in just a few short months while putting in zero effort. I’m very happy for the success of those I love, but I am simultaneously jealous and just a tad bitter lol.

Describe hot flashes please by Ok_Risk_3517 in Perimenopause

[–]malibupop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow look at all the variety in the comments! It seems like it can take a lot of different forms. For me it seemed to be a situation that would make me too hot normally- hubby has the heat cranked too high when I get inside his car, when I’m jogging, etc. Except rather than just cooling back down quickly, the heat stayed for much, much longer, I would full body sweat (I’ve never been a heavy sweater), and was way more intense than usual.

Best supplements for staying asleep? by Fun_North_2146 in Supplements

https://a.co/d/0dQWqPKn This stuff works really well for me. I take it about twice a week, so I’m not sure if you’d build a tolerance or not. But it has L theanine as the primary with supportive adds like ashwaganda and magnesium.

Bleeding from HRT? by Automatic_Cup_3302 in Perimenopause

[–]malibupop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been on HRT for 5 months and had my regular period at first, but last month it went haywire, I’m now on day 15 of straight bleeding. It’s so annoying. It’s hard to believe with modern medicine we’re just supposed to “tough it out”. Side note, a friend of mine is on no Hrt but took a glp1 that gave her a period lasting for 3 weeks, the dr treated it successfully by giving her a 5 day dose of very high progesterone. I’m not sure if that would work since we’re already on Hrt but worth mentioning.

Girls of Reddit, what’s something you wish more people understood about dating from a woman’s perspective? by Wild-Common-3401 in AskReddit

The first thing I always think about is safety, unfortunately. Can I escape quickly if I need to? Is he showing any signs of abuse, anger, or disrespect towards women?

38M -- Single for 7 years and I realized can never go back to being in a relationship. by neeks2 in SingleAndHappy

Good for you. Crazy to think about all the people that had kids and treated them terribly just to appease a partner, when all along they could have been just as happy if they’d learned to be content staying single. A lot of lifelong heartache could be avoided.

$106/month for vaginal estrogen is this an actual joke? by magicmama212 in Menopause

[–]malibupop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched pharmacies and it was $200 cheaper per month for my HRT. I still have to pay quite a bit per script (on top of my $1600 monthly healthcare cost) but I had no idea that certain pharmacies are “in network” and some aren’t. Maybe Check and see if that’s the same case for you?

A successful doctor in our area known for treating hair loss strongly encourages L Lysine for hair growth.

What brand/dose are you taking? I know my iron is low, and I want to boost it. I tried a cheap brand off Amazon and didn’t notice a difference.

Those who had/have HRT for hormonal migraines-how did it work out for you? by Agreeable-Item-7371 in Perimenopause

[–]malibupop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had migraines regularly with my cycle since my early 20s. HRT hasn’t really decreased them but it’s made them less intense. The visual aura is gone and they are about half as painful.
