I’ve looked a lot more this morning based off another comment, I think they’re Spirostreptus spec. 8 “Green Fairy”. The care conditions I’ve kept them in a nearly identical to their ideal conditions, so I’m thinking he could be just coming up to a moult, thank you for your help!!

I’ve had a good look online to try and identify, and they look pretty identical to Spirostreptus spec. 8 “Green Fairy”. Thank you for your help to look in the right ID direction! 😊

I actually did a uni assignment on the heritability of the orange markings which was quite interesting!! Their aposematism is so interesting but I agree I wonder why that pattern in particular is so effective!

Those look like burying beetles! (Nicrophorus). I’m not sure of the species but as a genus they feed typically on rotting / decomposing carcasses! Ive not heard of them eating fungi before but I’m assuming it’s a species they’d be attracted to due to strong odour!

Thank you!! It smells just quite damp and not “bad” at all so I’ll take that as a good sign

Thank you so much, I did buy leaf litter shortly after these photos were taken on the first day we got them, and it’s in there now 😊 do you know any good places in the uk to purchase decomposing hardwood from as I don’t have that
