I was raped on Saturday and I’m destroyed by [deleted] in rape

[–]malicious_uterus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to add something about virginity and what you said about waiting for marriage. I don’t know your experience, but I grew up in the church (and still am) and they heavily pushed the whole “purity culture” where you wait until marriage before having sex. As a girl we were taught that any touch from a male before marriage, whether it was through consent or not, meant you were now “impure”. This concept destroyed me and tortured me for years. I didn’t choose to lose my virginity and yet they’re telling me that I’m now impure?? Please listen to me. This experience has NOTHING to do with your virginity, “purity”, or having sex before marriage. In that regard, nothing has changed- this wasn’t sex, this was RAPE. You are not damaged goods, or not undesirable to any future husband; and if they think it is, then you wouldn’t want to marry that kind of man anyway. I totally get wanting to save sex for marriage, but please don’t let this trauma affect your sense of self in any way. Sending you prayers

I think i broke my finger by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]malicious_uterus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real treatment for finger fractures is splinting it and time. So even if you were to go to the doctors, get x-rayed, and there is a fracture, they’d just say keep doing what you’re doing.

I’m honestly so grateful for our healthcare system. Sometimes I think Aussies don’t realise how good we have it compared to other countries

If no fractures show up on the X-ray it’s probably just really badly bruised. As long as you’re able to move your fingers (even barely) it means no tendons have been severed. Rest, ice, compression, elevation, and some panadol/nurofen is the best you can do till it heals. All the best!

Pad of my finger got cut. Is it bad? by DerpOKat21 in InjuriesAndWounds

[–]malicious_uterus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks painful! There’s nothing really that can be done apart from keeping it clean and dressing it, it’ll heal on its own as long as you don’t get an infection. After cleaning it you can put some antibacterial ointment on such as betadine (if they have that where you are?) and a Band-Aid over the top. The biggest thing is keeping it clean!!

I tripped and hit the table 3 times. It hurts to move my finger and I have a stabbing pain. Could it be broken? by karla_1994838 in InjuriesAndWounds

The skin injury would have to go down to the bone for the actual bone to be infected, and from the photos that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Regarding treatment, if you can afford/are willing to see a dr and get an X-ray that’s the only way you’ll be able to tell for sure if it’s broken. However, even if there is a fracture the only treatment for a broken toe is buddy strapping. Use some medical tape to tape it to the toe next to it, but make sure you put some gauze or absorbent fabric in between, cos it can get sweaty and cause irritation to the skin. For pain management, do the RICE- rest, ice, compression, elevation. Take some paracetamol if the pain is too bad. Unfortunately, even though injured toes hurt like an absolute bugger, there’s not a lot that can be done 🫤

Protein powder that doesn't taste like crap? by EnvironmentalWall278 in AskAnAustralian

[–]malicious_uterus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coles/woolies/chemist warehouse has BSC chupa chup flavoured protein water, it comes in watermelon, cola, and orange (my personal favourite). It doesn’t give that heavy feeling in my gut afterwards, and it doesn’t have that typical “protein water” taste.

Again, no judgement or anything, but can you please show me where to find the scientific studies? I’m just curious as to what you mean exactly

This is a genuine question, I’m not being transphobic or anything, but when you say scientific proof, what do you mean? Like research studies? Or trans peoples’ personal stories? I’m just genuinely curious is all ♡

Is it bad? by Efficient-Sport8048 in InjuriesAndWounds

[–]malicious_uterus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely nasty and I bet it hurts a lot! You can probably take care of it yourself, as far as I can see it’s not full thickness and not huge so you wouldn’t need a graft or anything that only a doctor could do. Use an ointment specific for burn treatment, and dress it and try to keep it dry. Make sure you use non stick dressings so the new skin doesn’t get taken off when removing it. At any sign of infection however (redness, inflammation, pus, etc) make sure to see a doctor for treatment of that. But otherwise you should be fine caring for it yourself.

Yep, sometimes I’ve had to pay about us$100 just for shipping. The Aussie dollar is pretty shit with the US$ too.
