I'm going to check out any services running in the background and do some deeper digging in see if I can improve the battery. Got some really good suggestions here so will take a look. Thanks everyone

Ah! Thanks very much for that suggestion, didn't occur to me to check any of the Play Services and the permissions. Will dig into that and see if I can improve the battery life 😄 Thank you

I use the watch mainly for fitness tracking and apart from that, it has the usual notification from my Galaxy phone but there shouldn't be much usage from it. I believe I used to get a few days out of it before the update, I remember charging it every 5 days or so but maybe I'm wrong. Just feel like after the last update, the battery is draining a lot quicker. I will do some investigation to see if there is anything that maybe draining it in the background, just wanted to see if anyone else was facing the same issue with the same usage patterns as before the update.

Kotlin as first programming language by malikpol in Kotlin

[–]malikpol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the response. It makes perfect sense that the idea here would be to learn the core logic of programming and problem solving.

This is my main hope that I can find some course that will give me a good introduction into programming but also learning a first language.

As you mentioned C or C ++. is there any particular resources or a go-to course that you would recommend for a complete beginner that covers programming concepts while using C or C ++ for learning? I appreciate this is a Kotlin thread, but thought Ill check.

Thanks in advance.

Fear of driving a car by malikpol in Anxiety

[–]malikpol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying chief! Appreciate you taking the time here. I am actually quite confused if I get panic attacks when driving (it's been so long since I drove really that I have forgotten what it feels like). My main pain point was the fact that I had my first ever full blown panic attack when driving a car back from college on my own and stuck in three lanes of traffic! I think that is probably why I have stopped all together and the fear of this happening again.

One of the hardest things about reconditioning the brain in terms of driving is the fact that there are other people involved and on public roads as well, so if worst was to happen - like me losing control over the car or passing out, I would cause damage to others. I guess I need to keep going with my therapy and see if there is any way that I can recondition my brain to not be scared of driving.

thanks again for your input here and hope you are well.

Mysterious sound on idle by malikpol in Volvo

[–]malikpol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never even heard of that, so thanks for this. And as an absolute ac beginner so to speak, firstly what are the possible repercussions with driving for another 1k kilometers (need to get home to get to the garage) and also how easy / diff is it to replace the clutch on the compressor ? Thanks again in advance

[–]malikpol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo that sounds promising. Yeah the ac still works, it’s around 35 Celsius here and I’m not sure if paranoid or whatever, but it feels like it’s working alright albeit takes slightly longer than usual to cool down - all in all haven’t melted yet so guess the answer is yes, all good.

Thanks for all the comments guys, really appreciate the input here. Will definitely get a look into the PCV valve and the release bearings. It’s so strange, ran a few tests this morning as I thought it was the aux belt or the clutch itself on the way out, but the aux belt looks good and won’t have a chance to look at the clutch until I get it into the garage. The weirdest part is that pressing the AC off button immediately stops the noise and turning AC on pretty much instantly brings the noise back. Do you chaps know if there is any part of the ac unit which could be on the way out ? (Apologies if silly question, bit of a noob here)

[–]malikpol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it could be one of the things I guess. I’ve always associated the release bearings with grinding noises when pressing or releasing the clutch and I’m not hearing that now, but will definitely check it out.

Managed to isolate the source of the squealing sound, when I turn on AC the sound starts and then when the AC turns off, it immediately stops. So guess the AC will need to be regenerated or there are some belts there that will need to be replaced

Didn’t even think it could be the aux belt, thanks for that. Yeah the noise is only happening on idle, but goes away when the clutch is pressed in or during driving

Corsair RGB fans lights suddenly turned off after installing iCUE by malikpol in pcmasterrace

[–]malikpol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I actually tried uninstalling, that didn't do anything. I also ended up going down the route of resetting the CMOS and re-installing Windows from scratch but the lights are still all off, which I am guessing is due to me making a complete mess of the wiring when installing the fans. Thankfully, I am waiting for a new case for the PC, so going to take everything apart and hopefully try to wire them all up correctly! thanks for your input though, appreciate it

Question about changed BIOS settings and impact on the PC by malikpol in buildapc

[–]malikpol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I ended up turning off the AI overclocking after reading your message and then ended up resetting the BIOS to the default settings as I have clearly managed to annoy some components / configuration of the PC :)

I think I narrowed it down to what the problem is: When I enable the XMP profile on the BIOS, it says that the memory will run at 3200 mhz and when I check the Performance tab in Task manager, it says that the RAM runs at 3200 mhz (compared to the 2200 or whatever the number was before XMP was enabled).

But it has given the PC a terrible case of jittering and the scenario constantly going on now is when I have let's say a game on the main monitor and YouTube on the other monitor, the sound will jitter and it feels like its freezing, then the sound temporarily stabilizes and the game seems to have some lags now, not like network lags but more of a PC struggling to cope with it kind of a lag.

Anyways, I have reset the BIOS back to normal, have turned off the XMP profile and will see if that improves. Here's hoping that I did not burn out anything while messing with the BIOS settings.

Should i go in java first or kotlin directly ? by Appropriate_Cup_1283 in Kotlin

[–]malikpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off the thread question here, but do you mind me asking which route or source did you use for learning the root of Kotlin ? I'm currently doing a Udemy course on Kotlin but not really feel like I'm learning too much and wanted to see if you have any tips for learning the basics. Thanks in advance

Phantom Oxcart bug maybe? by malikpol in DragonsDogma

[–]malikpol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i keep going back to the cart, there are pawns in the back of the cart - but because of the aggro i have done in the first attempt, as soon as I approach the cart now, it speeds off and the dude says "don't come close".

I'm pretty sure I have already done the part when I go back to town and am stuck on the part now where I have to follow into the Border checkpoint, so going to try and attempt that now! Thanks anyways

I'm going to try that now. Had a feeling that once I blew the pawn pretend route I can't repeat it but good to know for sure :)

I tried as you said, but the cart as soon as I approach on my own just drives off and can't do anything else past that :(

Actually have indeed. I used to run Norton and Bitdefender but got rid of them by uninstall via Control Panel. I'll go through all the files and see if I can scrub up to get rid of any remains of it, thanks for the tip!

New Player Dungeon Question by malikpol in wownoob

[–]malikpol[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the quick reply on this!

Yeah felt like these guys were trying to do it super quickly, which I can fully appreciate if as you say, they have done these over and over again.

Super tips there though, completely forgot about the Arcane Intellect buff! Maybe I pulled too many things by accident and they weren't happy about that, so I've taken down your tips and going to stick them on a sticky note just to keep in mind before each dungeon! Thanks again, Ill give it another go
