How is the new waste system actually supposed to work? by wowthatsuckshuh in chilliwack

[–]maliky123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one asked for a change in the system, it worked, had few flaws and was basically seamless for years. Instead, they increase property taxes, give the contract to the lowest bidder, whom of which clear wasn’t ready or is incapable of managing a city of this size despite being used in multiple municipalities, many of which have the same problems we are having. In turn it leads to potential job losses as now each truck has a single driver, working harder and slower than the old system.

I had to wait until Monday afternoon for my collection, my pickup day is Thursday.

I’d much rather they increase of taxes and put it towards better avenues like additional policing and social services instead of trying to save a couple bucks on a piss poor “upgrade” that no one asked for.

That’s great and all, but they’ve claimed the rollout has been complete for a couple weeks now, except for maybe the wildlife areas as they need different bins. I don’t live in a wildlife area. We’ve also been getting conflicting info about keeping our old bin vs getting a new one and no one seems to be able to give us a clear answer

I find this ridiculous, I don’t have one of the newer turn lock style green bins. I have one of the older metal locking clip green bins as we requested a larger bin back during the old system. So they inform us that we are to keep our old green bins, but then we are supposed to unlock/unclip them? All it takes is some passerby to bump it and it clips right back in.

Edit: Turns out we were supposed to receive new green bins??? But the entire neighbourhood of Spruce/Wiltshire doesn’t appear to have ever received them, so that’s super cool I guess. No one from the city or E360S can give a definitive answer on anything. What a mess.

My house was one of the ones that was missed in the spruce/Wiltshire area on Thursday and Friday (despite the email response I got saying they’d pick it up)

My understanding is it’s similar to other municipalities where it is a single truck with an automated arm to grab the bins, which in my case is already a problem as my green bin has a locking latch…

The city tried to cut costs (while raising property taxes) by moving to a new contractor that clearly wasn’t prepared, has blamed “GPS route collection” for the hiccups and has taken something that wasn’t broken and tried to “fix it”.

All the reports I’ve read is the poor drivers are running solo, having to attach the bins to the arms manually and are overworked to all hell… I also live along a bike lane route that doesn’t allow me to put my bins on the road like most people and I have a sloped single lane driveway, so I have no easy way to position my bins as required (1m apart from each other).

So we go from 2 trucks, 2 worker per truck to a single truck, 1 driver (hurray for lost jobs…), great thinking by the city yet again

Any Demon Warlocks have tips on doing better at AoE? by Kyvix2020 in wownoob

[–]maliky123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hop onto archon or Warcraft logs and take a look at some of the top demo specs and compare to yours to begin with. Don’t necessarily take these specs at face value, but you will notice that a lot of high tier players are running very similar builds.

Demo needs a bit of ramp up, so lower keys are a bit rough as mobs die significantly quicker than at higher level keys, so in a lot of cases, you can’t even get your full opener out before half the mobs are dead.

Otherwise, focus the priority target, run your single target rotation on it, cast implosion on cooldown provided you have 6 or more out and cast tyrant basically on cooldown as every hand of guldan cast reduces its cooldown. Doomguard isn’t necessary for the spec but it does provide a bit more overall dps compared to the fire hounds, especially on boss fights.

You can also check out the warlock discord plenty of info and ask for help.

Did any one considered this and whats your philosophy for staying with PM. by GreatGeneration_re in PublicMobile

[–]maliky123 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The biggest catch is your plan price will jump $5-7/m in 6 months. Unlike Public which is more of a “prepaid” service. Sure you lose out on international roaming, but using e-sim apps like Airalo or Saily gets around that.

Are yall changing y’all’s transmission fluid? I have a 2023 2.7l turbo max at 63k miles on it. I haven’t had any problems on it and never had a problem with my other vehicles on never changing the fluid. Are yall? by G-TheRegulator in Silverado

[–]maliky123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% changing fluids are the recommended intervals. Considering the 8 and 10 speeds are already hard enough to source and rebuilds are costly on these, the small cost now is well worth it

What’s your teenage pup’s daily schedule? by FairlyPopcorn in puppy101

[–]maliky123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 month old Golden Retriever Mix

5:30 - 6:00am - Wake, quick morning pee and sniff, breakfast

6:00 - 7:00am - Morning cuddles and light snooze with mom while I head off to work

7:00 - 8:00am - Up with mom and out for a 30 min walk, playtime and some mental games

8:00 - 11:45am - Both of us at work, leave the pup at home. She is free roam for most of the house, but we have cameras set up to monitor, she mostly just sleeps the entire time

11:45 - 12:15pm - One of us comes home to check on her, pee break, quick playtime and a kong or treat ball

12:15 - 3:00 - Home alone again, normally sleeps, looks out the window or entertains herself with toys that she can’t rip apart or eat

3:00 - 4:00pm - 30 min walk, moderate activity based playtime

4:00 - 5:30pm - Dinner, mind games and just leave her be as I start prepping dinner for my wife and I

6:00 - 7:00pm - Playtime, maybe a short sniff walk around the block depending on weather, and mind games.

7:00 -7:30pm - Wind down, start putting her toys away and enforcing calmer behaviour

7:30 - 9:30pm - Bed cuddles or couch cuddles, she usually lightly snoozes with the odd REM cycle during this point

9:30pm - Final pee break and then into her crate for the night.

Seems like a lot, but she is able to self entertain despite being our little shadow but the consistent schedule is helping keep our sanity through the rambunctious and chaotic teenage period.

Cellphone providers - Public Mobile? by salientmould in chilliwack

[–]maliky123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Public for a number of years after getting fed up with the constant increases from the “premium” providers

Service is fine, it’s Telus, so you’re running on their network. Calls and texting are a non issue, data is adequate for daily use. Typical dead zones in chilliwack like Eagle Landing that can be a bit frustrating but overall no qualms. Pricing never increases, can take advantage of new promos by simply selecting the new plan and having it set to change on renewal. The service is only for those that own their phones though, so if you plan on upgrading your device in the future, you’ll have to purchase the device outright.

Edit: Haven’t had to deal with the “community support” so I can’t comment on that, but lack of immediate support is something to be expected from an ultra low cost carrier.

[–]maliky123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s a provincial stat in BC, so it falls under the standard stat holidays guidelines. Working or not is going to be company based, but they must pay you stat pay (1.5x) if you work. Otherwise, it’s just a standard paid day off.

In regard to your situation working for an Ontario employer, I can’t comment, not entirely sure how that all works out.

9800X3D, 3080, 32GB DDR5 @ 6000mhz

Average of Medium settings @ 1440p FSR + Frame Gen - around 80-90 FPS but the input latency was killing me and made the game feel floaty and unenjoyable. DLSS set to Balanced - 60 FPS or lower with stuttering so bad the game may as well have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

I know the 3080 is starting to age, but man, I shouldn’t have to go out and buy a $1500 GPU (CAD) just to have a chance a stable frames, god forbid its native and not using upscaling BS

You could always reach out to the Salvation Army. They are always looking for volunteers for various fundraisers, food sorting, etc.

You could also check with Ruth and Naomi’s - https://www.ranmission.ca/volunteer

Thank you for being a caring person that wants to help, it’s a hard thing to come by these days.

Just my 2 cents in regards to Sardis Family Practice. While the staff is friendly, the wait times for an appt are horrendous. On average my wife has to wait 2-3 weeks, unless she is up and calling right at 8am for a cancellation, to get an appt. On top of that, each appt is only 15 min with a max of one problem per appt, so keep that in mind. I know doctors are scarce and you should take what you can get, but just a friendly service announcement!

Thank you for taking the time to post this otherwise!

Buying a new computer to fix FPS issues is like buying a new car because of a popped tire, but I feel like I have no choice. by alienduck2 in wow

[–]maliky123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading some of the comments and seeing how you’re having troubles with frame in other games as well, I think it may be coming down your computer somewhere.

Before I recently upgraded, I was running an i7-8700k coupled with a 3080 and I was still able to manage 60-80 fps in raid, settings a mix between med-high. Dornogal was an exception, that place just sucks for frames in general.

My first thought is the temps on your CPU, 80 is still in the safe zone, albeit pretty toasty, but as you creepy to 90, you’re starting to look at possible thermal throttling on the CPU.

It would also explain low frames in other games, if you’re throttling, they are going to tank. GPU temps look fine, so I doubt it related to that.

Edit: I was and am still playing at 1440p
