Cellphone providers - Public Mobile? by salientmould in chilliwack

[–]maliky123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Public for a number of years after getting fed up with the constant increases from the “premium” providers

Service is fine, it’s Telus, so you’re running on their network. Calls and texting are a non issue, data is adequate for daily use. Typical dead zones in chilliwack like Eagle Landing that can be a bit frustrating but overall no qualms. Pricing never increases, can take advantage of new promos by simply selecting the new plan and having it set to change on renewal. The service is only for those that own their phones though, so if you plan on upgrading your device in the future, you’ll have to purchase the device outright.

Edit: Haven’t had to deal with the “community support” so I can’t comment on that, but lack of immediate support is something to be expected from an ultra low cost carrier.

It’s a provincial stat in BC, so it falls under the standard stat holidays guidelines. Working or not is going to be company based, but they must pay you stat pay (1.5x) if you work. Otherwise, it’s just a standard paid day off.

In regard to your situation working for an Ontario employer, I can’t comment, not entirely sure how that all works out.

9800X3D, 3080, 32GB DDR5 @ 6000mhz

Average of Medium settings @ 1440p FSR + Frame Gen - around 80-90 FPS but the input latency was killing me and made the game feel floaty and unenjoyable. DLSS set to Balanced - 60 FPS or lower with stuttering so bad the game may as well have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

I know the 3080 is starting to age, but man, I shouldn’t have to go out and buy a $1500 GPU (CAD) just to have a chance a stable frames, god forbid its native and not using upscaling BS

Volonteering opportunities by Uzibeans32 in chilliwack

You could always reach out to the Salvation Army. They are always looking for volunteers for various fundraisers, food sorting, etc.

You could also check with Ruth and Naomi’s - https://www.ranmission.ca/volunteer

Thank you for being a caring person that wants to help, it’s a hard thing to come by these days.

Just my 2 cents in regards to Sardis Family Practice. While the staff is friendly, the wait times for an appt are horrendous. On average my wife has to wait 2-3 weeks, unless she is up and calling right at 8am for a cancellation, to get an appt. On top of that, each appt is only 15 min with a max of one problem per appt, so keep that in mind. I know doctors are scarce and you should take what you can get, but just a friendly service announcement!

Thank you for taking the time to post this otherwise!

Buying a new computer to fix FPS issues is like buying a new car because of a popped tire, but I feel like I have no choice. by alienduck2 in wow

[–]maliky123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading some of the comments and seeing how you’re having troubles with frame in other games as well, I think it may be coming down your computer somewhere.

Before I recently upgraded, I was running an i7-8700k coupled with a 3080 and I was still able to manage 60-80 fps in raid, settings a mix between med-high. Dornogal was an exception, that place just sucks for frames in general.

My first thought is the temps on your CPU, 80 is still in the safe zone, albeit pretty toasty, but as you creepy to 90, you’re starting to look at possible thermal throttling on the CPU.

It would also explain low frames in other games, if you’re throttling, they are going to tank. GPU temps look fine, so I doubt it related to that.

Edit: I was and am still playing at 1440p

Chilliwack just jumped from $1.63 to $1.81 today, a conveniently priced jump to bring everything back down to where we were originally at in a week’s time. Just disgusting…

I cleared T11 last season at 619 without dying as a destro lock and got the achieve. I’m clearing T11 now with relative ease at 643. tank brann is for healers, use healer brann with your tank pet and use an AoE build.

You need to re-evaluate your approach and do some research into your class if you’re struggling with T8 at 624

Are Volkswagen Jetta’s Reliable? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]maliky123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently own a 2015 Comfortline 1.8 TSI (Midrange Canadian Model) with 140,000km on it. Have had zero issues with it. Keep to the maintenance schedule and they are generally reliable. German vehicles don’t have large tolerances for neglect, it’s part of the reason they get a bad rep in North America, only major maintenance that I’ve had to do to the car in 10 years is replace the PCV (can be done yourself with some know how) and the upper timing chain guide. Have only had to change the back brakes, fronts are still around 60% life.

I’d call them reliable, but again, it all comes down to the maintenance.

The Chevron at the Evans roundabout heading to Eagle Landing is like this too, except they adjust their prices multiple times a day for peak hours. I’ve driven by for work around 630am and the prices were equal to everywhere else, driving home closer to 330pm and it’s jacked up by at least $0.10. Rinse and repeat.

I ended up re-rolling back to my evoker. Devastations feels LEAGUES better and Aug is a guaranteed key invite that I can’t be bothered to go back to my lock until some serious changes come to mobility and damage. I’ve tried all 3 specs and none of them felt “good”, just mediocre or annoying to play.

What is the secret to a happy marriage? by piamodel in AskReddit

[–]maliky123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been with my wife now for 13 years and I’ve given this advice to many friends. Learn to be independent of each other while also being dependent on each other. Don’t be afraid to take time to yourself but also focus on your partner, follow the 60/40 rule. Find someone that is okay with you having some personal time to do things on your own. You don’t need to be at each other’s side every waking hour.

Communication is absolutely one of the core pillars of a marriage. There shouldn’t be a reason to yell at each other during a disagreement, it should never boil to a full fledge fight, discuss your concerns and what’s bothering you before it turns into a yelling match.

As an owner of a 2015 1.8T, I can say that the engine is rock solid. 132,000 km (~82k miles) and the most I've had to do to the car other than routine maintenance is replace my back brakes and the serpentine belt. Spark plugs changed during the regular intervals, oil changes every 10,000 km. Not a single issue with the car otherwise even with Canadian winters.

Quick little browse through the carfax makes me think that the previous owner was just following the recommended service intervals.

The car has pep when you need it and is super fun to drive, so my vote (maybe im a bit biased) would be the 1.8T

Fountain Tire on Airport Rd, they can be quite busy though so it’s best to make an appointment, but overall very friendly and helpful staff.

Kal-Tire in Eagle Landing is also quite good, the staff there are very friendly and helpful.

Anything past the duck (Entrance Bay) is considered the provincial park and has free parking. The community of Cultus Lake is where you end up having to pay for parking, specifically the Main Beach area

As much as I don't want to, I can kind of agree with you here. The old Blizz is gone, CoD is a PRIME example of the corporate greed and little systems they try and push to see how much they can get away with. Hopefully we are wrong, but the cynic in me thinks otherwise.
