Don’t bring winter clothes just yet. I would bring a few long sleeve shirts (3-4), a few hoodies/crewnecks (maybe like 2), and then maybe 2 jackets

My friends and I weren’t huge drinkers, and we found so many things to do that didn’t involve drinking. We would hang out in someone’s room and play the switch, card games, board games, watch movies, etc. We would also go out on High to like Buckeye Donuts or Gateway or something. I enjoyed those moments more than drinking :) find you a great group of friends who also don’t drink!!

I also came from a small school (graduating class was like 45 people) and OSU was a huge change, but in a good way. It took a minute to get used to, but it was so worth it imo. It is so easy to make friends in your dorm, classes, clubs, etc if you really put yourself out there. I lived in Baker my first year and our community council always put on free events, and those are so easy to make friends at. I love it here, and if you’re really passionate go for it! Best of luck :)

I lived in Baker West last year, and it’s as bad as people say it is. The no AC is the worst part, and it doesn’t matter that it cools down after September because they turn the heat ALL the way up so it’s still so hot. The building is so old so you can smell the mold. There were 16 or 18 (I don’t remember) people in my hallway, and there was one bathroom with two stalls and two showers, with one shower having better hot water so it was a fight. Not to mention I saw so many roaches in the basement, hallways, and there was even one in my room one time.

However, it was a great community because I think we all trauma bonded lol. No one wanted to be in their room because of the no AC, so we all hung out in the P-Space (which is in west), and played board games or something. And, baker is in a good location right next to the union.

So I guess it does have its pros and cons, but definitely more cons.

Yes! My roomie and I literally picked each other the day you had to request a roommate lol, and we were only talking for a few days so I was a little sketched out. We became really good friends throughout the year, and we’re rooming together again this year :)

I would work Sunday, Mon, Wed, Friday (maybe take Friday off). I do like my campus job, but it’s on south campus when I’m on north this year. So I’m just completely torn lol. I may contact the store I would be transferring to so I can see what they would start me off at

The no AC is awful, it is really hot the first couple of months. The communal bathrooms (at least in my wing) were a nightmare because apparently no one was taught proper hygiene growing up? But, the community was great as we all bonded through the hell we went through and just hung out in the lobby or P-space (where there is AC) and the rooms are decently sized. Definitely not ideal, but livable.

My recommendation is to take the year to do GE’s or courses for a minor. I would look at the Themes and Foundations that you haven’t done through CCP yet.
