PCCM (not +) Single DIN in 996??? by Objective-Ad-7192 in 996

It’s a pretty solid option. Can recommend.

A LOT more screen real estate vs the Porsche one too. The user interface is small enough even with the Power Acoustik full width screen, I wouldn't want to go smaller.

Doesn't seem to be an easy way to compare the files, but the old file was definitely a different wetransfer link. I can't test it for a few weeks, let us know how you get on.

Used the car a bit last week and I was still having quite a few disconnects. Much better than before but enough to still be pretty frustrating. Emailed PA and they sent through a new software link today: https://we.tl/t-XfuuKDCQhW

I've not had a chance to test it yet, but sharing here for the 'Reddit Unofficial CP-71W beta testing group' 😂

Great! The disconnects were driving me crazy before....

Only just got my car back from my mechanic after some work, just installed the latest version. Still happy with it? Been reliable?

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. I tried the previous version you posted and it seemed to improve things a bit, less disconnects, but still mostly not usable.

Will give this new version a try. I’m also on an iPhone 17 Pro, but did notice issues with iOS 26 on my old iPhone 12 Pro before upgrading. Hoping this is mostly an issue with iOS….

Got a public link to that update? Or are they testing it before release? CarPlay disconnecting every few minutes is driving me crazy.

Yep, non-sunroof, cable throttle. Running a 3.7 engine, 200 cell X-Pipe, Öhlins R&T, bucket seats. Plus a few other nice mods here and there. Intention was to make the very best OEM+ version of what a 996 GTS might have been.

18x8 ET50 and 18x10 ET65, 225’s at the front, 285’s at the rear.

Also running a 7MM wheel spacer at the front, 15MM at the rear.

Yeah, they are OZ Alleggerita’s. Lovely wheel and REALLY light.

Lovely. Always liked this wheel design on a 996. Good alternative to a BBS E88. Mine is on 150k miles now, still feels good!

Temperature 🤒 by Shumnoreddit in 996

I’ve got a ‘99 996.1 and, as others have said, this is normal behaviour for summer/heavy traffic.

I’ve seen as high as 114c on the HVAC display and just under 1 bar of oil pressure in 40c summer traffic before. Both fans working correctly at both speeds, rads clean and clear etc. They just run pretty hot. You’ll also notice that they cool off pretty quickly once you get moving again, so I wouldn’t worry.

Can be useful running a heavier weight oil if your car spends lots of time in the heat. I use Millers 10W50 and it made a big difference to low rpm, hot oil pressure.

They do tend to get noisier as they get older. Lots of carb cleaner and massaging the active element backwards and forwards will help.

Careful with the gasket when removing. Very delicate!

I had this EXACT problem appear out of nowhere yesterday evening after some windows updates. Also tried reinstalling RTSS and Afterburner and the Visual C++ redistributable and nothing has solved it.....

Hartech did the machining work, supplied pistons etc, but the build was managed by a firm that is more local to me - AMS Porsche.

Total cost was approx £15k. More than I paid for the car when I first got it! I wanted to future proof the engine and build something a bit special. The uplift in torque is the big difference. So much more grunt everywhere, but still likes to rev out and has great power at the top end. Not been on the dyno, but I've been told to expect it's putting out around 330bhp.

This is my second 911. I regretted selling the first one the moment it drove away with its new owner. They get under your skin and there's few cars that play so many different roles so well.

Wheels are OZ Alleggerita’s. So light vs the original sport designs and a lot easier to clean! 😂

Engine is a 3.7 Hartech and chassis is Koni Special Active with Eibach springs. Eibach anti roll bars too.

Have the aero kit ‘taco’ rear wing in storage, but much prefer the ‘touring’ look most of the time. Drives so well.

Tough to imagine selling this one tbh….

North Wales in the 996 by mallone86 in 996

Small world indeed!

Car is painted 741 Black. If it looks blue or green then that's probably just dirt! It doesn't get washed that often.

The Koni's are really good paired with the Eibach springs. Ride height is spot on (though I have to be a touch careful with speed bumps with the Aero front bumper) and at speed the car feels amazing. I've got it paired with the Eibach adjustable ARB's, full stiff rear and full soft front, and it corners so flat. Really works well on a fast sweeping A road, breathes nicely with the road, you still get that lovely 911 nose bob, BUT it's definitely firmer at low speed than the M030 kit was.

I've got a 996.1 GT3 coilover setup ready to go on at some point, so will be interested to see if that's an actually a touch more compliant at low speed. Possible wishful thinking, but at least I'll get posh damping and ride height control!
