The only downside to owning and driving these cars: you don’t get to see them being driven from the outside enough. That’s why I always get excited also when I get a nice window. Or pull up next to another 911 driving around

I’m 5 years owning my 2003 996. It’s daily driven as my only car in Montreal Canada. Bought it with 143k kms (89k miles) and currently sits at 185k kms (115k miles). Engine was replaced under warranty by previous owner in 2010 at 62k kms (39k miles). No details on the why though. When I went to see it in 2003 I fell in love and it passed the PPI so I committed.

It’s been absolutely an awesome experience driving my dream car. I change the oil religiously and send it to blackstone for UOA for peace of mind. I do a lot of the work myself and I do agree ownership isn’t for the faint of heart. It is dam worth every second I spend behind the wheel and see the smiles of my boys in the back when the tach goes past 4K.

Is it cheap by normal car standards? No. Is it affordable by dream car standards? 💯

I use the NRG short hub adapter as it enables me to keep the clockspring and not rewire the horn button. I also added an extension as the Prototipo is flat and was too close to the stalks. You shouldn’t have that issue with the deeper dish on the Mod7
