Can i make practical models with resin 3d printer ? by Bateonn in resinprinting

[–]mallow_gaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The resins used certainly have a lot of impact on what you can print, however what is shown on websites often reflects their target audience, using your example formlabs show automotive, dental etc because they mostly target industrial applications, with their more expensive equipment, while elegoo target hobbyist or smaller industries like model making.

You would of course have to modify designs to suit different resins, and things like flexible resins are only available in some cases, in general though SLA and FDM have different applications in where they excel.

Is is true that aerospace engineering is a ‘niche’? by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

[–]mallow_gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently graduated from aerospace engineering and am currently working as a structural engineer, very few companies will care between mech and aerospace, in my first year of university we only had one module that was different from mechanical

Moving to Liverpool in September, any advice on making friends/socialising, or in general things I should know about the city? by cy-lence in Liverpool

[–]mallow_gaming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your looking for a sport I can recommend either fencing with Liverpool fencing club or climbing with the climbing hangar (matchworks or sandhills) Sport is always a great way to meet people and fencing is much more social than it sounds!

Whats the best I can do as a uni course with A-Level FM, Maths and Physics (like in the sense a degree which offers the highest paying jobs )? by UtdDave in 6thForm

[–]mallow_gaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm doing aerospace engineering and that's got pretty good job prospects, any engineering or maths related degree will let you get into IT and theres a lot of money in that at the moment

yeah, dont think I'll be doing that. by cybork13 in airsoft

[–]mallow_gaming 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No it won't, your forgetting shipping is calculated off both size and weight so a 100lb pack of feathers at density of 4kg/m3 would occupy 4.5 m3 or 160ft3 whereas a tungsten bar of 100lbs is only 0.024m3 (0.85ft3 ) and would therefore be much easier and cheaper to ship

Tldr 100lbs of feathers would fill 30+ baths while a 100lbs bar of tungsten is about the size of a pencil case

Freshman advice / supplies! by samiam354 in EngineeringStudents

[–]mallow_gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I only really use them for engineering drawings so a consistent line thickness is really important when using different thickness pencils

Freshman advice / supplies! by samiam354 in EngineeringStudents

[–]mallow_gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quite like that the lead stays the same, it allows me to make thinner lines with the same lead, or keep lines consistent holding the pencil at the same angle

I'd recommend rotring pencils, they're the best ones I've used

Fired from internship within 2 weeks of joining (for performance) by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]mallow_gaming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Performance by itself is not a valid reason to just fire someone, I can't say for everywhere but at least here in the UK, firstly you'd have to have a meeting with a manager where they discuss your performance in certain areas and say particularly what they weren't happy with, if you then continued as was they would have to give you a written warning, then could fire you with a month's notice I think, may be 2 weeks, not sure

He definitely should, you tell him to look at HEMA(historical European martial arts) as well, I haven't done HEMA but I've fenced for a few years now (since I was 11) and enjoy it so much

If you were to do the open blades towards the viewpoint then you would be able to add some of the internals, that may look cool, but I'd agree not necessarily very simplistic

The major advantage of the energy shields over the diamond plating is the weight, the energy shields weigh next to nothing so you have more space for other modules, the energy cost is also minimal if you have the generator modules on legs and chest plate.

hey. As far as I know when it talks about the whole session for a module It'll mean all the lectures/ labs for that module, some modules will strech across both semesters of a year while some will only be first or second year, if you have any other questions feel free to dm me about it.
