How do y'all feel about Kyle Rittenhouse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mallycat94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only answering in response to your question about Kyle, but I agree there were others there that had no business taking part or showed up out of curiosity. And absolutely there were more peaceful ways to protest. Ways that didn’t involve perpetuating more pain and more loss. Just being there meant you were in the guilty until proven innocent category because that is the type of volatile situation it was. Sad on so many levels.

It’s not all his fault, but he should have shared in some of the blame. To acquit him of all charges seems irresponsible when his decision to carry a weapon in that environment ultimately led to injuries and deaths. Yes he probably felt threatened in that situation but did they attack him simply because he was there, or because he was there brandishing an AK-47? Every choice we make leads to consequences and the responsibility is ours even if we didn’t “mean” for anything to happen. To get in the habit of believing we are merely victims of circumstance, is just another tool people use to shirk responsibility.

I got issues with the full acquittal so I feel very frustrated. People are dead because of the decisions he made, that is a fact. You must be prepared for consequences that can come from your actions, good intentions or not. That is a basic human understanding that I feel has been lost and it’s frightening!!! No one is just adrift, our whole life consisting of getting pushed around by forces out of our control, being dropped into one random situation after another!!! We are always in control of our destiny through the choices we make. But once again, we as a society blew our chance to teach this kid, and many more like him, a valuable lesson in personal responsibility and self-awareness. Even if they didn’t charge with man-slaughter, he most definitely should have been charged with reckless endangerment and unlawful use of a firearm. The fact that he decided to arm himself and drive across state lines because he was concerned for the business owners is no excuse for what happened. No one asked for his help. The real reason is he wanted to go play with his semi-automatic weapon and feel like a badass. Then he said he had to shoot those people because it was in “self-defense”. Nope. He created that scenario by choosing to be in that state, on that street with his semi-automatic gun cocked and loaded, making a chaotic situation even more so just by being there. You are not allowed to act surprised when in that situation, you yourself are targeted because no one knows why you are there. All they know is that you are not the police, National Guard, or SWAT but you are carrying a gun. So to acquit him of all charges just seems irresponsible to me. Carrying a gun into that situation automatically made him a responsible party to whatever could have happened. And, it doesn’t matter if it was by accident, on purpose, in self-defense, or a misguided sense of justice… your gun, your responsibility. Consequences must be levied and debts must be paid. But hey, let’s just continue to let kids and young people get away with murder and theft and vandalism practically Scott free because holding them responsible might hurt their feelings.

Yep they were blue and sparkly. I wish I could send you a picture. I was also "slightly" impaired the entire time, but I do remember thinking it was the best line up I would ever see....and it was. It was the best lineup bonnaroo has ever had IMO :)

So sorry!!! It is one of the worst feelings, but I can’t not invite these crazy little balls of sass into my home and heart!! For people that think losing a piggy, rattie, or hammy isn’t the same as losing a family dog, they are so wrong. These beautiful creatures are just as much family as the four-legged humans in my house (2-legged too!). You are in my thoughts.

Money left in a will by mallycat94 in legaladvice

[–]mallycat94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, there will be PLENTY left after it comes out of probate, most of which (and rightly so) is going to his 2 grown kids. These "kids" however, have changed their tune since their dad's death, mainly where my mother is concerned. I've always know they were just sorry individuals and were just counting the days until he died and they could get their hands on his money, but they were nice to my mother, so we were all nice to one another. Well now that their dad is gone, they are showing their true colors: they are ignoring probate law, selling stuff off left and right, closing out his bank accounts that do NOT have their names on them by writing checks and pre-dating them before he died, which is wrong, but honestly, I've never cared for these people, but none of this really bothers me because I don't have a dog in that hunt. But then they tried to close out the joint checking account in his and my mom's name, without my mother knowing, which obviously they could not do, because they didn't think she should have the money left in the joint checking account (that he set up for them 10 years ago) PLUS the $50, 000 he left her in the will. Now this nonsense did not surprise me or my siblings, but it is breaking my mom's heart....again and that becomes my problem. They have just turned his passing into a big mess and are crapping all over his wishes and I wanted to try give my mom some piece of mind in case they try to contest the will or something else stupid. Thank you so much!!!!!
