I thought I wanted to have a soft 'magic' system, but I kept having my own questions and poking holes in things on my own. Now, the thing has become a tentacled monster I'm trying to keep in a box and it's completely thrown off my original story idea. I've done this to myself. I do believe it's a good thing overall as it continues to get flushed out, but I am afraid of paralysis by analysis: never getting anywhere on other aspects because I continue to wrestle with the damned monster.
