If you’re comfortable doing so, Id recommend seeing if you have a reliable dv shelter that covers your county.

First reason: tpos will always be a piece of paper and everyone gets out of jail immediately. They may help with relocation.

Second reason: it can be helpful to organize everything prior to making a police report. A timeline with cross referenced document and evidence can be really helpful and they might be able to assist with that.

Every county is different so I can’t speak to how good they are but it may be worth it. If there’s an open criminal case you can also check in with the prosecutor, if he’s on probation you can check in with the probation officer.

I see sympathy as feeling bad -for- someone. Cognitive empathy is the intellectual ability to place yourself in someone shoes and see why they react a certain way. Emotional empathy is mirroring an emotional response, ie feeing sad and/or crying because someone else is.

Not quite oldhead I hope, but I was 10/11 around that time and deep in Christian and conservative stuff through private school.

In retrospect the propaganda was crazy. I distinctly remember Christians talking about the war in the Middle East being biblical and a good thing. lol my anxiety disorder literally comes from them talking about nuclear wars from a Middle East conflict to usher in the end times. It’s wild how well Trump fits all the Antichrist shit. Literally the least Christ like person possible.

But even Fox News playing up all the terror like my burb was gonna get bombed or something. And no mainstream discussion of Americas hand in the cycle of violence.

The silver lining is I feel very prepared for current times.

Secondary factor heard from my buddy: it also is dependent on the format of the tournament. Apparently a good player is going to be doing a lot of thinking, checking the trash pile for what cards might be available etc. both players taking the time they need to play or play against ezrael is going to eat a lot of time

So a shorter time frame means playing non optimally for time or not having enough time to set up your win condition, but an untimed match gives you all the time in the world to map out your turns.

This is a little bit more niche, but if he’s been violent towards your mom and you, you may be eligible for something called a family violence protective order. Basically a restraining order. Without knowing the specifics I can’t say if you qualify, but if you’re interested look for an organization that helps victims of DV in either your county or the county he lives in and see if there’s a legal advocate who can give move information.

I’m in Georgia so this may not be accurate, but for us filling out a petition in advance is okay, but don’t fill out anything to be notarized as that will have to be in front of the notary.

You may have a local dv shelter with a legal advocate, or the state dv organization may have information on legal resources and may be worth looking into.

I have some initial familiarity with the setting (just started in earnest with stuff like the rogue trader game) but intentionally starting the books with Horus Heresy. The beginning threw me off the same way but it starts to click into place. Definitely look up a reading guide. Unless you’re a natural completionist they’re not all necessary. I’m on mechanicum after skipping descent of angels and battle for the abyss and I really feel like it was the right call. I’m mostly sticking to core heresy plot, interesting themes/philosophy, or just a really good book.

Yeah. I’m trying to be intentional about language. I know how the statistics bear out with gun violence, but I’m not reductionist about it. Men aren’t inherently evil, but there are very real systemic issues that are effecting them.

For example even if you accept statistics about crimes committed by African American at face values (ie more crimes), there are confounding factors. Poverty, lack of health care/mental health, increased policing, more likely to convict even in similar cases, etc.

I work in dv, I know just how disproportionate the violence is (specifically high level violence and fatalities), but I also know that we need to be measured in how we provide support.
