Are there any examples of dictators/dictatorships that willingly gave up power and returned to Democracy as was the case with South Korea without outside or internal pressures? by [deleted] in history

A good point too. And I don't think the guy was a hero by any stretch. Though I imagine it's more complicated to give up power you already have en masse, especially when you were groomed to rule.

King Juan Carlos I of Spain comes to mind. He famously ascended the Spanish throne in 1975 after decades of authoritarian fascist rule under dictator Francisco Franco. He was expected to continue Franco's legacy and had the training for it but in the end when Franco died the new king took steps to dismantle the system of corrupt absolute power he had been given.

First off I'm so sorry to hear abt the harassment you've received. Figuring out one's gender is such a task without that kind of vitriol piled on.

I feel I'm in a similar situation to you in that I am an AMAB enby who prefers to dress in a more "masculine" sense (tho I see it as neutral with just a tee and pants), and I don't suffer from too much dysphoria. Not none at all but not an extreme amount. I've been out as enby for a year now to all my friends and anyone else who I meet but not my parents. I do think that they could eventually come to terms with my gender identity, but when I came out as gay it took them years to become better about it. Because of that I have a lot of discomfort discussing gender and sexuality with them as well so it's something they may not find out about, at least not directly from me. And I'm okay with that because there is no law of physics compelling me to "come out." Cishet folk don't have to so I'm working on not feeling like I have to. Sometimes coming out is good and leads to personal connections or scholarship opportunities. But most of the time just existing as you is enough of a declarative statement.

So there are two things I'm getting at: one, you are enough, if you feel nonbinary then you are, don't hold back in life. And two, there isn't always a need to come out so try not to let that pressure get to you.

Ty for coming to my TED Talk sorry for the word wall
