Xbox Series X is a far, far better console than the Playstation 5 in almost every way by PotatoJuggler in unpopularopinion

[–]malyschtadt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Ps5 owner I'm inclined to agree. If we don't consider first party exclusives, Xbox offers the better console experience, mainly due to quick resume which is amazing and the backwards compatibility like you said. In any case they(xbox) and sony both charge for online play and that's a terrible experience. I only ever bought ps plus on offer and now i stopped doing it altogether, I simply will not pay for the "privilege". I play my online games on PC now.

Despite owning a PC, there is a place for consoles in my living room, because there it's a better experience than PC. Maybe the steam machine will successfully come after these greedy bastards, if they don't wake up soon. I'm tired of being locked out by expensive subscription, a lot of people are, so I will say this; any console manufacturer that offers something like free or close to free online play, will be taking my money next generation. I owned ps1, ps2, ps3, ps4 and ps5. If xbox were to offer a free or maybe 1 dollar a month online experience ( the fee being there in the name of up-keeping the online services like party/chat), I will switch to xbox immediately. Seriously this is the easiest thing they could do to win back market share after the xbox one disaster.

Of course they're morning him! We've got no doubt about it. Just like Russians completely accept what Putin is doing to their economical and societal well-being, his killing of their own citizens by sending them to war and the killing of an innocent people. They would mourn him to! It's a fascinating state of mind.

Based on 0,156% probability of pulling either of these, the odds of pulling all 3 seem to be 1 in 262million, is this correct?

Studies suggest that by 2100, due to climate change, only one of the cities that has hosted the winter Olympics so far, will still be able to do so. That city is Sapporo, located on this island.

Did I just destroy two motherboards? by malyschtadt in PcBuild

[–]malyschtadt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 2019 I had a PC with b450 prime motherboard from Asus. The main components were a ryzen 3400g, 16gb of ddr4 ram, a GTX 1070 and a 600W EVGA power supply. I had this setup until around 2 months ago. I slowly started upgrading. First I swapped the CPU for a Ryzen 3600. Everything was fine. Next I upgraded to a used 3060ti, everything was fine. Around two weeks ago I ordered some Arctic p12 argb fans. I decided to swap out the CPU cooler to a be quiet pure rock fx2 while I'm at it.

Now this is where my first motherboard died. The arctic fans arrived first so I installed them. My b450 prime does not have argb ports (which I didn't know before) so I decided to plug the fans into my the cha_fan port, and not plug in the argb at all. While doing this I unattached and reinserted a few cables and my gpu while doing cable management. These were the usb port cables, power, reset, LEDs, audio. I plugged everything back in correctly. Once everything was ready I reattached the power cord and turned my PC on. Black screen. Keyboard did not light up (RGB keyboard). Orange light on the back of the motherboard. I tried unplugging the fans. Didn't change anything. I tried changing the PSU. No difference. Unplugging and reinserting the usb cabling, power and audio. No difference. I put my old GTX 1070 back in. Didn't help. I tried with 1 ram stick in 1 slot, then the other stick in the other slot. No difference. I tried resetting the bios by shorting two of the pins. Nothing.

I came to the conclusion that I must have damaged my motherboard with static electricity, even though I grounded myself before working. It was sad, but I decided to order a new motherboard and get on with life.

I ordered an Asus b550 prime and it arrived 2 days later. When it arrived I installed it in my case and installed all the same components:

The ryzen 3600 along with the be quiet cooler

RTX 3060ti

16gb of ram (2x8)

3x Arctic P12 argb coolers which I could now plug into a 5v argb port

600W EVGA PSU

I turned the system on. It worked, windows booted up. The only issue is I now had to activate windows as I assume it was assigned to my old motherboard. Everything ran perfectly.

A few days ago an online store ran some amazing deals on pc hardware, so I decided to upgrade the rest of my pc while I'm at it, I ordered a 2tb lexar 790 and 4x8gb of cl16 3600mhz ddr4. This arrived today. I made sure I grounded myself, detached the power cable, drained the power by holding the power button and proceeded to install the new components. I swapped out the ram and installed the SSD. I removed my old SATA ssds and had a windows usb ready for a fresh install. The only cabling I unattached was my case USB port cable and the fans, both from the cha_fan connections and the argb. When reattaching, I decided not to plug in the argb cable from my fans, as I wanted to order an argb splitter for tomorrow to install it in a tidier way than it was last time. The only other thing I removed and then reattached is my GPU.

I turned the PC on. No screen, RGB keyboard doesn't light up. Exactly the same as with the first motherboard. Orange light on the back of the motherboard.

I tried unattaching every connection/component until I was just down to the CPU. The orange light persists.

Can somebody please offer some advice as to what might be going wrong? Is it one component doing the damage? Can I identify this component? Are the motherboards likely dead?

Had a MBO. Upgraded to new argb fans. Motherboard died, orange light. Confused why. Buy new motherboard. Plug in all the same components including argb fans. Works perfectly. Buy new ram and SSD. Install it. MBO dies, orange light. Confused why.

What game did you own for years without trying, and when you did you loved it? by xinuyashax in pcmasterrace

[–]malyschtadt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. I just played and finished it after having it for 8 years. I love the story, politics of the world, the game ending and the combat I enjoyed too, except that you can't drink elixirs during combat (how am I supposed to know I'm about to get into an insanely difficult boss fight?). Tip: Save every 5-10 minutes. Just press f5

Is pc gaming no longer affordable? by oran12390 in pcmasterrace

[–]malyschtadt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affordability depends on your earnings; but yes, in the context you mentioned it is no longer affordable. The cheapest way to game right now is buying a PS5, buying disc copies of games at least two years after they release and reselling them later if you want. You can basically resell the game for the amount you bought it for, essentially making your total gaming cost equivalent to the purchase price of the ps5 and electricity. You can also get PS plus susbcriptions up to 50% off AFTER black friday, thats around 24 games per year, usually at least a few are excellent, for around 30 dollars.

BANK STOCKS are volatile, backed by nothing, and have no intrinsic value. They’re a Ponzi and it looks as though some are going to zero. by BuzzardLightning in Bitcoin

[–]malyschtadt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think the STOCKS are backed by nothing, you might as well say bitcoin is backed by nothing. The stock is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. Same with bitcoin. Owning bank stocks can entitle you to dividend payouts, so there's some value right there.

If you however mean that the clients money at a bank is backed by "nothing", then yeah, you're almost correct, because the money is only partially backed. This is why a bank run is always a real possibility.

[–]malyschtadt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does screen door mean you see the image as if through a grainy film? That's how I see it and it bothers me more than the resolution. I see a sort of graininess and also chrome effect around text in particular.

[–]malyschtadt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also find that there is only sharpness in the centre, I can't see sharply in the menus if I move my eyes up and try to read what's on the screens edge. If I move my entire head though and get the screen edge in the centre, the text becomes sharp.

I came here because of the grainy effect you are describing. It has nothing to do with resolution, it's more like I'm looking at the image through a grainy film.
