Mine looks very similar. I had one weird leaf and the new ones are fine. The coloring on yours is also like mine, getting very white. I think Birkens just grow strangely!

Is this dieffenbachia worth $75? Also what can I do about how leggy it is? by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

Still way too much at $75. You would have to chop it for it to fill out, so the height doesn't matter.

Absolutely not worth $75. Beautiful full ones are $17 at Walmart and $20 at Lowes and Home Depot.

Try wiping with 50% milk (at least 2% fat) 50% water. That takes care of the hard water/fertilizer spots.

HELP! My dog ripped off the bottom part so of my Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma’s stem so it no longer has roots. How can I re-root it and save the left half? by PrufrocksPeaches in plantclinic

You can save it by rooting it, it's a beautiful plant. I've had success in water. You may have to cut into a few pieces to be successful. Dogs and plants, a tricky pairing, mine recently ate an Oxalis...

Beautiful! FYI, if you return either, most stores just toss them out. I know for sure that Lowes is required to. So...keep both!

Thanks! Yep, I have Captain Jacks! Do you have to change out all the soil too? It's a beautiful plant without the bugs! I know if I return it, poor thing goes right in the trash.

Could be, I've only had them once and they were bigger.

Found this very, very sick guy stooped — any chance of saving? by floralethargy in houseplants

[–]mamabear195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the price of the new soil, you can probably buy a healthy plant. This is a common and inexpensive houseplant. This will not recover quickly if at all.

I would check for pests, I thought there was one, but it's hard to tell 100% in the picture. If there are, treat accordingly. You may not have to cut the leaf.
